I'm going to be in Alanta for a few days at the INTA convention (any other trademark lawyers out there going to the INTA?). Unfortunately, I won't be getting outside, but the convention is 3.5 miles from Atlanta Rocks Intown. I'd like to hit it once or twice, probably Sunday afternoon and/or Tuesday afternoon for a couple of hours. PM me if interested/available? Thanks

Jimmie

I'd check out talluah gorge, its supposed to be fairly close by, and there's topo in the dixie craggers atlas.

Thanks guys. I generally prefer to avoid plans for the gym as well, but climbing outside will prove impossible. I will only be able to snag two or three hours total, and I won't have a car so any significant drive time and approach is out of the question. And one900johnnyk, I appreciate your enthusiasm.

Hey man, if you don't want to go to the gym there are a few outdoor climbs within metro Atlanta. I live right across the river from a place called Long Island. It is a tiny little crag but it offers a FEW problems. Also there are the Palisades and Allenbrook. If you are only staying 3.5 miles from Atlanta Rocks Intown then you are real close to alot of things. I live only 5 miles from Intown so you can hit me up if you want to check out some outdoor climbs. If you want there is information at www.climbgeorgia.com. You can find some info on the areas in there or in the Cragger's Guide.

Hope this helps. Have fun in Atlanta.

Jeff

Dude, hit up boat rock. It's not 20 min from downtown atlanta and it's way more fun to boulder outside than climb in Atlanta Rocks. Hit me up with a PM if you want directions, not sure what dates those are but if they are weekends i'd hit up the boat.

... however it's less fun to get your car broken into. of course, from what i hear that's not uncommon at atlanta rocks either.. man atlanta is ghetto..

Is there only bouldering in Metro Atlanta.
I live aproximatley 30 minutes North of Atlanta. My partner lives on the south side. Thus far, we only go to Lost Wall around Dalton Ga.
If there are any places closer that go higher than say 40 feet, I would like to know.

Thanks
JINX

Allenbrooke is a close by 30-40 feet top-rope area with 8-10 routes. The terrain sucks, and the climbs aren;t all that great, but it's outside and close for a quick few hours of climbing without the drive. I live about 15 min from it, if you are interested let me know. I mainly prefer to go up to foster falls though.
