Hey all, I thought that I would share some photos of my recent trip to Joshua Tree. Instead of posting them all again here, I will just link to their folder on Photo.net: http://www.photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=387607 I always like constructive critique, so feel free to rate and comment on them there or here. Thanks, Sal

Nice job, Mr. Kerouac... You may want to read up of the "rule of thirds" and vary your composition accordingly. Just a suggestion. Keep it up...

Cool pics man, thanks for the link. Not to highjack the thread but here's a cool pic of Hale-Bopp taken from the Indian Cove campground I ran across today: http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/...pp3_pacholka_big.jpg Gotta love Jtree! Sean

thanks for all the feedback and for checking them out. I'm just starting out and know the rule of thirds but do still have the habit of putting my horizon right in the middle or a tree right in the middle. That hole bopp photo is excellent, thanks for sharing it.

Great photos. Joshua Tree is loaded with beautiful areas but it's easy to mess up exposures and find good compositions with that type of area.

Great pics. You seem to have captured the essence of Josh. What type of Grad ND do you use?

Crotch, I use a $50 model B&W GND filter. This was the first trip that I had it with so I'm just learning how to use it. I wouldn't mind getting a Cokin holder so that I can change where the transition falls. It's probably really the only way to go with GND's, but it's so expensive. With the screw-in ones, you can really only have the horizon in the middle (give or take a few degrees) for sunsets.
