Dandy Warhols, Beck, Everyday Sunday, Counting Crows, Barenaked Ladies, Everclear, DMB, and Five Iron Frenzy are some of my current favorites. A GREAT underground act would have to Jonah from onelinedrawing. You can hear his stuff at Jadetree.com or go to his website onelinedrawing.com

I listen to everything.....my CD case has everything from Chemical Brothers to Sheryl Crow to Ella Fitzgerald to Rancid to Cypress Hill to White Stripes to Martin Denny to Paul Oakenfold to Primus to...... All over the place. On the road you never know what kind of music is gonna keep you going for that extra stretch of road. Good to always bring along a variety of music.

ah music, my favorite topic. i dunno what you're into, or what you know so far, but there are some great "underground" bands that are just on the cusp of widespread recognition: death cab for cutie avenged sevenfold at the drive in vendetta red norma jean a static lullaby alexisonfire coheed and cambria boys night out the mars volta hot water music jets to brazil pedro the lion neutral milk hotel the list goes on and on and on. i personally barely listen to any of it, i'm much more of a punk fan. no, not good charlotte, new found glory, greenday (though green day is quite nice). iggy and the stooges, ian dury, the ramones, the clash, x, x ray spex, the slits, the cramps, etc. i also love going to underground punk shows. no choice, anti-flag, against me!, useless, none more black, rise against. or 90's rock. ga i really can't pick a favorite. as you can tell, i love music.

What's this about the Postal Service and Death Cab for Cuties? Is the music similar? I kind of stumbled upon the Postal Service by accident. Totally dug the song "Such Great Heights" after hearing it in a snowboarding video. So I had to review the credits until I could figure out which song it was and go find the cd. It's awesome! Totally a different kind of music. I'd like to know more. I also forgot to mention A Tribe Called Quest...love the Tribe :o)

My favourites would be: The Prodigy Amon Tobin White/Rob Zombie the Beastie Boys then, just other weird stuff that I happen to come accross, like.. Mr. Scruff.. hehe, shoulds be gettin' his CD in a couple o' days.. lookin' forwards to it! (Beware, I seem to have a slightly, errr... "warped", if you will, taste in music, most people don't like it.. but I do!!!!!!!!!! :D ) I seem to always find myself tapping my foot to the beat or listening to the rythym as oppose to the words, I guess that's why most of the music I listen to doesn't have lyrics.. hmmm, interesting.. :P

Some people just aren't wired for music. My mom is one. Sometimes music is a great distractor. I used to be a major TV watcher for my developmental years. Now I don't own cable, but I've got internet and a stereo. The music must be on in the car, must be on at home if I'm sitting around without purpose. An argument could be made that we're just as dependent on it as we are TV. That said, rock on ladies - OAR and Dispatch for me today. I've noticed one thing about me and music: In general, unless it's whiny and bitter girl music, I only like guy singers. It's hard to find a woman singer in my CD collection. True for you as well?

Mac- my music follows a similar trend. All groups are guy groups. THen I have the angry girl music and only women blues artists. *shrug* Of course, it could be because there's a dearth of good female rock groups out there. The Donnas *shudders*

Shout out to Ani DiFranco, since this IS the Ladies' Room. :D The Postal Service is its own band. One of the Death Cab guys wrote and/or plays on "Such Great Heights," which is why it's so good, IMO. From what I hear, the rest of the album is techno-y & not great. I'm putting Led Zeppelin up there for greatest rock band of all time. Never gets old. I love the classic rock, the punk, the blues, the jazz, the indie rock, & the folk. Love, love, LOVE music. If I had any talent, I would be in a band right now, on the road, not sitting at the computer in my f'ing office. Grr... I'm currently liking: Cat Power, Built to Spill, Morphine, Breeders, Mars Volta, Death Cab, Bela Fleck, Bad Brains, X, the Walkmen, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Butcher Holler, etc.

I love music...I have a large collection that covers everything! I set the sleep timer on my radio for 3 hours at night...and I either listen to The Lord of the Rings soundtrack, Lovin Spoonful's greatest hits or the light rock radio station. It's also a must to have the radio on in the shower...where I listen to country, rap, or soul music. Also in my car I have an entire cd holder full of cds by my favorite English artists (Elton John and The Beatles). My other cd holder has some: DMB, Bob Marley, Rammstein, U2, Joss Stone, Celine Dion, White Stripes, A Perfect Circle and many others. (Anyone ever heard of David Crowder Band...they are a Christian group but they rock!) I LOVE MUSIC!!! I think I need an MP3 player for all of my music. The above mentioned are just cds...no need to list whats on my computer, but it's mostly great songs of the 80s and early 90s.
