Hey there, A few friends and I are planning on going to the Red in a few weeks. I've been there once before. I'm looking for a few suggestions on where to climb. I don’t want to walk for an hour up hill if I can help it. I’m looking for 5.8 to 5.10 (lead and top-rope). Let me know if you have any suggestions on does & don’ts.

Thank you

Not looking for an hour walk up hill! I wouldn't go to Pebble Beach or Long Wall!!!

Try Torrent falls, Raodside, Left Flank and Military. They all have short approaches, good parking and easy routes.

Besides, they are really the only places with quality routes. Everything else is choss and has hourlong bushwacks.

P.S. HuggyBone I dont know how slow you walk but it only takes me 25 mins to get to PB and about 30 to get to long wall.

DaggerX: Your p.s. was intended for me. My reply is the guy said "i don't want to walk for an hour uphill". That to me means exageration, as in he doesn't want a steep approach. So I told him not to go to PB because that is one of the steepest approaches... my legs are still hurting... and it is especially steep if you are carrying Trad gear.

I have never been to long wall but have heard "war stories" about the approach!

I know Andy I was really sleepy and picky (sp) so I decided to pick on Huggy a little. Oh yea in my oppion their are much worse walks then the one's that go to Pb and Lw,in the Red. I swear on a few I thought I was going to die, going to some unmarked wall's.

I'd check out roadside 1st and then Pistol Ridge (or point) but its pistol something. If you go to Pistol point, and climb "Its a wonderful life, check it out first, last time I was there, it was missing the 2nd clip. But that was in the fall. Or... Just go to Miguel's Pizzia, and anyone there can tell you where to go, and get you great food.
