We have threads dedicated to showing off our slackline pics, how about movie clips? I'm sure I'm not the only one with a capture card.

Here's one I just uploaded.
Me on a low & tight slackline on campus (.AVI, DIVX encoded 2MB)
Contents:jump mount, vertical jumps, horizontal jumps, knee drop & soda drop :)

If you need DIVX get the free non-adware decoder here:
http://download.divx.com/divx/DivX511.exe

If it doesn't load right for you then try the right click > save as or go to:
http://www.slacklineexpress.com/movies.htm

Post up.

Hey Joe,

I can't get the links to launch, I'm using IE 6.0.26 and the link says "downloading" then done but the page is nearly blank some icon on the upper lefthand corner. Would love to see the videos, hoping it can inspire me.

I've been slacklining for nearly three months know and can't seem to get that weight transfer to my right foot out in front. As long as my left foot leads I'm balancig well but trying to get my right foot out there is like writing left handed. So I'm working on mounting the line with a ladder right foot in frontand trying to develop that muscle group. Any other suggestions?

what is a soda drop?....I can't get the movie clip to work, so could you just describe it? I'm lookin for some new tricks to try. If you want a new trick, here's one I just learned: It's called the "Harpe sit" and you basically drop-knee and put your knee inbetween your left leg and the line. If you were dropping with your right knee, it would go through your bent left leg and drop below the line. Thanks in advance.

Well, I was using DIVX compression to save everyone massive bandwidth - you don't have DIVX normally, you'll have to use that second link I put in the post.

If you have Quicktime try this link
http://www.slacklineexpress.com/...jump@wells-QTlan.mov
(1.5MB MOV file - medium quality)

If you want the big file that should load successfully try:
http://www.slacklineexpress.com/Movies/jumps@wells.avi
Do me a favor it's 12MB so I'd highly recommend doing a right click > save as to save it directly to your computer. That way if you come back later and play it again you aren't killing my bandwidth and you don't have to download it again.

The "soda drop" I do all of those jumps and stuff while carrying an open and full soda, I just do a knee drop lean down and sit it on the ground. I thought it was at least interesting.

If the bandwidth gets to slowing down on my web site and using up my monthly allotement of bandwith too bad I'll have to pull the big movie.

Lunchbox, try forcing yourself to just hover on your weakest foot and bend at the hips while moving your other foot out to the side. The problem may be more in the supporting trunk muscles and their control than the leg itself since the legs are plenty strong to walk on.

If your really really having troubles, you can do it on the ground, go up on tip toes and sway your feet way out to the side and try to walk a straight line. Make sure you bend at the hips and intentionally try to move like you were on a slackline.

Well, where are you at in your skills? I'd tried jumping down the line a long time back but it didn't click until 2 weeks ago.

Jump mounts don't take too long to learn, an afternoon or two maybe less. It helps if your starting on a fairly low line.

Vertical or jumps down the line takes a while longer, it's a heck of a lot easier on a very tight line (as in biner gates won't open under the tension tight). You've gotta get stable, and jump up very quickly. If your slow it'll just be a bounce without getting air. You've gotta pick up your feet fast, which is hard to convince your mind to let you do at first. Personally jumping down the line was easier than straight up, that way I could control the direction of my momentum easier and see where I wanted my feet.

Thanks. It just takes practice, I still have a long way to go and I've got many more I'm working on.

As for more videos I have some others on my site, mostly some good jump mounts and some other not so wild stuff:

thanks b_fost!, my favorite part of the movie is when I scare the bejeesus out of my cat :) I seriously want to learn those cool jumping tricks that slackinjoe shows , but I cut my toe pretty bad, on some glass playing volleyball, so I can't slack for at least another week i think :( It needed stitches, but I went too late, I guess that have to be in within 6 hours, 8 at the latest, so instead all I got was a tetanus shot  Liquid bandage works wonders tho! I can't say its much better then crazy glue, and crazy glue is a lot cheaper. But its a toe, so I really didnt want to spare any money there ;)

Can't wait to see more vids, to get more ideas!

ive got some more vids up for criticism, review, and comments.

I changed the links, since geocities sucks.

what I try in the videos(4) is my attempt at a one foot vertical jump, then I did 2 consecutive jumps, after some attempts, and then a line grab behind the back, a reverse line grab if you will. And some minor surfing. enjoy!

25 MB DIVX encoded AVI

Everytime I post a new movie my site bandwidth gets sucked up in a hurry, so please save directly to your HD via right click > save as rather than playing it over and over directly from the site. I actually have to pay for my bandwidth.

It requires DIVX, ie it will NOT play unless you have DIVX installed. If you need the free non-adware DIVX codec get it here:
http://download.divx.com/divx/DivX511.exe

slackline joe your line looks real loose... with more tension in the system you will be able to jump alot higher. it turns the line into a real narrow trampoline

Yeah, I know. It was only middle of the road tight as I wasn't going for big air only, it was set for a little bit of everything. I really crank it down for jumps lines, then again, I usually go for shorter distance between trees if I'm just jumping as well.

sorry about the bandwidth probs, i am cheap :) besides i dont really have a reason other then e-mail to have any sort of storage space, and ive just been using the free websites as dumps. So i guess until I am blessed with about 50mb of space with unlimited monthly bandwidth, first come first serve.

I am finally mastering forward jumps down the line :) here are some vids for critique, comments and stuff....

this is my yahoo briefcase, I think you can access it , then go into my documents, and then you can download the ZIP files, I put about 4 in the first, and 3 in the second. I don't believe I can direct link the movies. Let me know asap if this method doesnt work, and I'll see if geocities has stopped suckin :)

ok well yahoo is crap too, they want money.. well try these geocities links, and you have to copy and paste the link into your browser to get them to work. make sure you save them, and show a friend, since their isnt enough bandwidth available. :)

if you really can't live without em, i can e-mail invite you to the yahoo briefcase maybe, but its not like im juggling whilst eating fire and slacklining :)

Well I put these 2 zipped files up on another site, and I'm not sure my bandwidth allowed, but it seems like a good place.

the site is spymac.com provides free 1GB e-mail accounts, a website, a blog, and like 250mb of storage.

anyways

break the bank fellas ;) and let me know what you think.

Impressive...at the same time though i think n e 1 who can walk the line the entire distance is good. I can manage around 15 feet give or take a couple feet but i cant seem to make it my entire 30 foot line.

Is it just my insanity? Or does it seem like on "Jumpalooza" in the second set of videos, that your hitting the ground on landing. Its probably just me though... :? :? :?
