It's a big creature that lives under bridges that comes up every now and then to eat a billy goat. Seriously though, a troll is a dumb question intentionally asked on this forum by an experienced climber who jolly well knows what the answer really is. Apparently, it's a fun thing to do. That's as far as I understand it.

Well, looky here - a fine example of a troll:
In reply to: Sorry to be so ignorant... Just couldnt find a definition anywhere on the site... The old "what's a troll" troll. A classic, to be sure, generally not too effective. However, for some bizarre reason you seem to be halling 'em in regardless! :righton:

Why would I date trolls???? Good question.. Thought it would be fun?! Cultural research!? ummmm... lets see... the CHALLENGE - yeah, that's it!! HEHE!! Actually, none originally presented as trolls... but as things developed over the course of months and/or years things happened that were both of our faults. Honestly, with one exception, both sides were just young and stupid and no idea of what a relationship actually consisted of... Most of 'em I'm still friends with and we joke about things now (years later!!) :D The exception, well... lets just say that my experiences were not unique to this man and that, well... concensus is that if the shoe fits...

I guess Trolls need love too. Kind of you to subject yourself to that traumatic experience. I hope you weren't left permanently damaged.

Hee hee. A troll. You can't eat those. You can't dance with them. You can't climb with them. What are they you ask? Hmmm. I like beer, what were you saying?

The one on the left is a troll. I don't know who the bloke on the right is. He must be giving directions to the nearest bridge.
