hey guys/gals quick question for those of you in the know...

...has anyone ever tried using a petzl swivel to attach their pig to the haul line? i'm thinking it might reduce the amount the bag gets stuck and the twist in the haul line.

That's exactly what it is for. But make sure you don't clip anything from the haul bag to the top biner (like a backup sling or something). That would cause that thing to twist to sh!t. Clip everything to the bottom biner under the swivel. I think Petzl is one of the only companies that makes a good one.

TRADitionally yours,

I really don't have much to add except that the piece of gear in mention is really neat.

The gym I worked at used them to keep ropes in then autobelay systems from twisting up.

Yeah for Petzl!!

The Petzl Swivel

is the subject of a soon-to-be-written post entitled,

Dr. Pins: Pig-End / Far-End Hauling????

This post will describe a clever solo hauling system that you pre-rig to save yourself a lot of heartache.

In the meantime, Dr. Piton highly recommends the Petzl swivel as it helps prevent line twisting as your pigrolls across the rock.

While not absolutely necessary, a Petzl swivel sure is nice.

As far as I know, it is the only one available.

Cheers,

Dr. Piton
