Has any one ever had to do any aid on alpine routes.I dont mean a wack of pitches just a few moves over a blank surface or slab.What do you carry for this situation? Do you carry it on all new climbs?

I haven't had the opportunity to do it yet, but I picked up a pair of BD Alpine Aiders (just real light aiders) for this purpose. I assume you aren't looking for a list of pro/rope etc...

No I have all the goodies just wondering what to bring for the bare essentials or any tricks.I dont want to bring any thing im not going to use but on the same hand I dont want to be stranded cause I dont have the proper gear.cheers

It does come up and whatever you have to do to get up gets it done. I would recommend buying three 3-step atriers.

Just take a 48 inch sling and tie a quick aider. Its a short (4 inches max) overhand clip loop, one step about 10 inches below that (tied with an overhand), and another about 12 inches below that. Should give you 3 steps, but you're not carrying anything more than you usually would. Also, it forces you to move up quickly and not set marginal gear. Obviously, this is out of the question if you've got more than a move or two of aid, or its difficult and/or tenuous placements. Its hard to bounce test with only one aider after all.
