To all those who own the Mad Rock Loco shoes: I just bought mine over the internet about a size or more smaller than my street shoe. I absolutely love them for bouldering and overhanging routes (what they are advertised for) but am wondering if they will get more comfortable for vertical routes, etc... I've only had them for two days so my toes are still sore and I'm climbing through a new blister and I am not sure whether or not to invest in a pair of Mugens for long outdoor and vertical gym climbing Thanks a ton! A. Gilbert

Dont get the mugens for long outdoor. The dual density sole still has some problems with premature wear. Better to get the flashes and get them your street shoe size or bigger.

no they pretty much stay super tight, least stretch of any shoe i've seen prolly b/c of all the rubber in the uppers and the high rand.

Locos preform well from about 15 degrees and steeper. I've tried to use them on hard face climbing and because of the lack of flexibility they don't preform as well as my mugens or hooker zips. The locos are a speciality shoe not an overall shoe

Which of the Mad Rocks would you recommend for someone who does a lot of bouldering on granite ... heelhook country ... but also slabby faces?

Mad Rocks are definetly good for heel hooking IMO but for the slabby faces I wouldn't recommend the Locos (the only Mad Rocks I own). I have heard that the Mugens are a really nice shoe but I don't know if they are aggressive enough for bouldering.

In reply to: Which of the Mad Rocks would you recommend for someone who does a lot of bouldering on granite ... heelhook country ... but also slabby faces? la sportiva or five ten. pay a bit more for a shoe you can resole over and over versus one you have to trash because they fall apart.

In reply to: Which of the Mad Rocks would you recommend for someone who does a lot of bouldering on granite ... heelhook country ... but also slabby faces? the mugens are great for face and slab climbing and above average for hooking, while the hookers are great for faces but only ok for slabs, however the hookers heel held strong enough for me to tear my hamstring so they won't be going anywhere is thats what you are looking for
