BD sells the kit for like...$4. its for their cams only, though. or, send them back to BD for the work.

You need a little nicopress hand swager, it's not the kind used to make heads. I think it's called 17-BA or something like that. It only does that one size of crimp. To do 4 cables on a cam won't cost you more than $1 and might be more like .50 cents with good prices.

To fix them, I just shove the cable back into the "connector" and crush it down with really big channel lock pliars. It's amazing that this lo-tech fix seems to work better than the original crimps.

Even that little nicopress tool is rather expensive. We made the trigger wires at CCH with them and I seem to remember it was well over $50 just for the tool. It's been a while, things may have changed. I used to try to swage cable to wire and set them up, this was pretty sloppy. You'll inevitably have one fray on the cable poking you or snagging stuff. Now I just run a bailing wire all the way through. It works great. If if gets bent in you pack, just straighten it out, no biggie. Anything larger than a 4 friend I'd probably use a cable though.

I used spring tempered wire (aka musik wire or piano wire) on a Trango Flex cam. It worked really well. I don't have to worry about it getting bent out of shape.

They raised the price of the trigger kits. also if you send them back to the factory you pay shipping bothways and most factorys charge $15.00 to fix. I am in this for the long haul so a $50 tool is a good investment. if I fix 5 cams a year for myself and then maby carge my buddys a few bucks to fix theirs once i get good at it?????

Lately I've been using baling wire. Honestly, it's so simple that I can't believe I used to bother with kits. It's stiffer than the wee braided cable used by the manufacturers, but bends easily (i.e. back to straight if bent funkily). SUPER easy. tradmanclimbs: next time you're in North Cornflake I'll show you what I mean.
