hello, i cannot find the weight of the fish double whammy, any ideas. it would be more of an alpine ledge in chamonix, so will have to be quite light: can't afford an A5. any other ideas would be appreciated. also, how it the cover? how does the cover compare to for example the metolius one? in terms of durability, does it have a pole (website is a bit unclear). is this the best ledge in terms of weight, price and usability? also i am 6foot2, which is quite tall?? many thanks, and yes i have looked through the archives, james

thanks for the help, i know fish has a very good honest reputation, however i was looking for a little first hand user feedback. i will have to order it across the ocean, so all the information i can get before hand the better. it would be really good to know how user friendly the cover is and how storm-snow as much as rain proof it really is. i understand that it may be a bit cramped, but how does it compare in this regard, to other ledges on the market: even if it is cramped, if the other ones are too, then it makes no difference really? thanks in advance, james

I seem to recall reading somewhere on the Fish site (too lazy to go look it up. And you sure seem to be too... Criminy...) that the ledge was bigger than any other double? Or something like that. I dunno dude, maybe you could look at this stuff for yourself. Novel idea... Here are some ledges you might want to compare it with: - Metolius ones @ www.metoliusclimbing.com - Pika @ www.pikamtn.com - does BD have a double? Not sure, but here's their site @ www.bdel.com - there was one @ www.acmeclimbing.com at some point, but not sure if it was a double or not, or if it's still there. - The A5 ledge @ http://www.ankerclimbingequipment.com/mission.shtml Uh... thats all I can think of off the top of my head. Hope this helps. -Tristan

BD made a double. Chinsy Piece of shit. I own one if anyone cares to purchase it but better yet, I have a North Face A5 Cliff Cabana in brand new condition with less than three nights on it. FOR SALE - $350 bucks gets you the the most sturdy ledge out there. PM me for details. Have pictures ot it and will post it in gear section tomorrow. MIke

dear all, i am very much complimented by being called a dude several times, i fear i cannot live up to the title. secondly, i am not lazy, in fact i am failing my exams due to doing too much research on the internet, rather than reading. the results of the research is prejudiced towards the manufacturers and i would prefer first hand experience. this, in my eyes does not seem an unfair request as i have bugger all possibilites of seeing things first hand from another continent and also, following instructions blindly without asking questions seems a bit naive. i don't get it, climbing has a community, where people talk, i have posted several questions on here and received replies that are a bit impolite, opinionated and irelevant. what's the point? maybe i just don't get your style of communication. still, thanks in advance for any advice, james ps: a famous european named thomas humar, has unfortunately complained that when he went over to the states and soloed a crazy line in THE valley he received no help from locals; in fact the only beta he could get was from two canadians. its a shame.

I call everyone a dude. Some of the information that you asked for could easily be found on the internet with a little research. Most people on here are more than happy to answer your questions, but the price you pay is a little good natured heckling :D Don't take it too seriously... It's just the internet, right? I answered as much as I could. Sorry I can't be of more help. -Tristan

It's pretty light compared to some of the other ledges. If you can't afford the A5 then Fish is you only option. Metolius is a bit heavy for someone wanting light, BD heavy and junk. Pika, well for get that pile. Just hope Russ has some in stock, I had to wait like 6 months.
