Can anyone give me some good tracks by any of these bands? I've been downloading music by them and I'm ending up with too much crap. I like these bands lots but I'd like to be a little less random with what I download since it takes sooooo long. So I'll try what you tell me.

oooh, trace! pj is my hero.

i know you said a 'few' - but 'few' is relative, right?

No Child of Mine
rid of me *
Water
dry*
Sheela-Na-Gig
bring you my love*
Meet Ze Monsta *
Working for the Man
C'mon Billy *
I Think I'm A Mother
Send His Love To Me *
Angelene*
The Sky Lit Up*
A Perfect Day Elise*
Catherine
Electric Light
The River
No Girl So Sweet
Is This Desire*

i like the starred ones the best but didnt feel like trying to order them.

ani defranco also has some rockin lyrics .. i dont think her music is quite as good, but i have a few of her albums, nonetheless.

"This Mess We're In," duet with Thom Yorke, is rather nice. In fact, the whole "Songs from the City, Songs from the Sea" (or something) is a great album, less angry. My (much) better half just bought her latest CD, so I'll let you know what that's like.
As to Ani, if you like righteous fem-pop, you'll enjoy it up to Little Plastic Castle. After that, I guess the girl from Buffalo decided she wasn't gay or angry after all, got married, and got extremely boring.
YMMV.

hahaha - touche. i'm particularly fond of "not a pretty girl"

sheep - i have a few from both artists. though, i lost my favorite pj album in the move - doh!

no NERD or midtown. not angry enough, grrrr .. hehehe.

also, if you're looking for some good, angry workout songs, i'd like to suggest nine inch nails and disturbed. there are some great some songs on downward spiral and further down. JCS will argue that fragile is better, but that CD was stolen long ago at a party. (sigh)

ps - "dry" (harvey) is an exceptional breakup song. i actually wore out a cassette tape a few years ago during a breakup. the song just inspires you to stick your middle finger in the air and sing your broken heart out.

If you like PJ Harvey, try "West Country Girl" by Nick Cave.

The song is about her.
