I have a few questions about Boat Rock, Does anyone know the status of bouldering at Boat Rock in Georgia? Also, does anyone know about people breaking into cars there? How far is it from alpharetta?

climbing at boat rock is awesome. there are no access issues because it is owned by the Southeastern Climbers Coalition. check out their site below for more awesome info on Boatrock and come to our fabulous fundraiser party on August 6!!!! there continue to be problems with theft and vandalism so dont' leave anything in your car. not terribly far from Alpharetta. what??? 30 mins? more in the famous atl traffic. http://www.seclimbers.org

go to Rocktown, there are boulders forever there, though they can get slimy in the summer, plus there's free camping

Boat Rock is about 30 minutes as Raelinn mentioned (on a mid-saturday morning when traffic is nil). It is one of the only climbing areas in the nation that is owned and managed by local climbers. The climbing there is different... as in granite eggs with little or no holds.. but set along a nice forested ridgeline. Boat Rock info http://www.seclimbers.org/modules.php?name=area&file=boat-rock There have been some breakins over the past year so dont leave any valuables in your car. There has not been one since last June (knock on wood) when the bandits were chased back into the neighborhoods. Rocktown is great, and is a favorite crag for many. About 2 hours and 15 minutes from Alpharetta. Totally different from BR as in steep southern sandstone. Bring an extra set of forearms. have fun!
