Just got back 2 cams and a fifi hook that I sent out to Yates for them to resling. I have to say they did a great job. Even got a call from them the one day because I didnt specify the color or type or webbing I wanted used on the fifi hook. I cant say enough good stuff about their workmenship and quality they did on it. All this had to be done cuz some drunk guy though a pack of mine was the pisser and he had to piss in it Im just lucky that all of my gear wasnt in it.

That's kinda funny.

I mean tragic, but funny. Another reason why drunks shouldn't be allowed at the crag!

You had to resling your gear 'cause someone let fly on it? What else was in the pack? That rope will never come clean, you know...how much you want for it??

If I tossed every piece of webbing that got a little urine on in, I'd have to change leg loops after almost every slab route I climb! What about washing the stuff??

urine isn't that much of a problem -- its within 6-8 pH. blood is more acidic, I believe (or basic, whatever).

OK, so I just sent off 17 cams for reslinging. As I placed the box in the hands of the woman at the UPS counter, I had knot in my stomach. Giving that much of my gear over to the care of UPS is a little like dropping your kids off for daycare at the state pen. I bought the insurance, but I still think I'm going to be sick. "Brown" better not screw me.

j_ung: The only real problem I've had with UPS is my delivery person is apparently sadistic. He hides all of my boxes :/ Maybe he's just playful. Either way, I'd like to hit him with the aforementioned hex.

Personally, I much prefer FedEx. They're easier to deal with, and have better insurance policies.

It's pretty well known that UPS does not pay off on their insurance policies. They typically will claim improper packing and refuse to pay. The people I know who ship expensive items have switched to Express Mail, and when anything has gotten damaged, Express Mail has payed off on the insurance.
