What guides in print or out of print do you think are essential for a northern california climber???? By the way I am looking for, (Yosemite)Reid 1994,Meyers-Reid 1987,Harlin 1987,Meyers 1982,Roper 1971, older tuolumne, older Needles/kings canyon, older eastside, older high sierra... the older and more obscure the better. PM me if you want to get rid of them. Thanks Kyle Hummmm. maybe i should have posted this in the regional forum. oh well

In reply to: By the way I am looking for, (Yosemite)Reid 1994,Meyers-Reid 1987,Harlin 1987,Meyers 1982,Roper 1971, older tuolumne, older Needles/kings canyon, older eastside, older high sierra... the older and more obscure the better. PM me if you want to get rid of them. I'll bet people beat a path to your door to unload that old Needles guide... ;-) Harlin and Roper can often be found on eBay ("email me when new items matching this search are found"). Unless you're a collector, some of the older Sierra guides are best used for kindling... truly wretched beta in some cases.

Got the 1986 Tuolumne (Ried/Falkenstein) last night. Not many beating the door down, I do have a guy looking through his storage though, we'll see what that turns up.

I would add in Peter Crofts Book, the good bad and ugly (or whatever its called) I like both Monyier high sierra guides as well as his ski guide books too. Alan Bartletts old east side guide in the mid-80's. Sequoia and Kings Canyon, the Domelands, etc... Vernon guide books for southern Sierra. Yosemite Select - the current version is just improved beta on the original Secor peaks passes and trails is the definitive overall guide to the range though. What climber in her right mind would sell those old guide books anyway? spose you need a Mick Ryan guide pamplet to be truly conprehensive, though Bartletts guide treated the Buttermilk quite well. Cheers DMT
