About 4 hours from Zion to Flag. Not sure how long between SLC and southern Utah. It would be good to see you there, dude.

I have a few favorite spots off the beaten path. Closer to the Overlook, though. It's on BLM land and there are no facilities -- just whatever you bring for camping under the stars. High clearance vehicle recommended for that area. But we could get as many people as we want back there.

Ed

Any areas that don't require high clearance vehicles (I know I'm being picky)? There are a few who don't own one.

Andrew~That would FANTASTIC if you could make it out! I think from SLC, it would be about 10 hours (500+ miles).

You'd probably be better off flying into Phoenix. They have promotional fares right now for $58 each way (Fri-Mon) = $138.20. You may spend more than that in gas.

That's hella cheap. I've never seen it that low, so I'd jump on that if you think you can make it!

*Sigh*... We're not moving out to Tempe until the middle of September so unfortunately I won't be able to go. But I wanna wanna wanna go REAL bad because it sounds like boat loads of fun. When we get there someone MUST show us to those fantastic rocks that were pictured... PLEASE?

We can do this^

Paradise Forks!!!

Make me an official fence sitter. I'd get to see Reno and Hillary! Sweet! I've never been to AZ.
*rattles fence* Don't forget the sheep! ooh, or Flamer either. He cracks me up.

I'm all for an isolated camp to keep us knuckleheads from being too much of a burden on the rest of normal society ;) I'd suggest the Forks campground too, but it's not convenient to anywhere but the Forks (though the Forks is quite exceptionally rad)

So many crags, so little time! Wanna go to the Pit the Forks the Overlook the Draw wanna take pics of it all AND.... I wanna hit up the Monte-by-god-V.

Jeff! It'd be great to have ya out, brutha. Let us know if you're coming for sure.

As far as what to bring, as of right now, nothing will be supplied. It'd be nice to have the campground closer to Flag as we had hella fun going into town for eats last time.

We'll work it out....

Yes, my girl (not wife yet but after 5 years of dating it feels like it  ) will be coming along. Don't know what day I will be able to make it up yet. Depends on kids schedules. Do you know where you will be camping/climbing each day? probably too early to say yet huh. I am really looking foward to it. I had such a cool time in Sedona

Aha....really did think you two were married

Not sure where and when yet, but we found that most people went to the area they prefered and there was always some folks heading that way too.

That way it cuts down on overcrowding at each crag and we all end up meeting up later anyway.

Right on Rick!! A Flagstaff gathering could not possibly be a gathering without flagstaffclimber :)

So do you know if there is food nearby or should everyone plan on bringing their own?

ok, i'll keep the flight in mind. i can't buy a ticket until it gets closer since the chances are 50-50 i'll be out of the country - it seems like i am always gone during any gatherings i think about going to. if i do fly in, can someone give me a ride out to flagstaff?

hmm .. art and erica will be there, and tracy might be. what about curt, ed, and hillary - with their combined efforts, can they teach me the finer points of bouldering, drinking scotch, and smoking cigars?

put me on the fence list.

Beer.

btw, i've recently filed lawsuits against budweiser for false advertising - my roomie kicks their ass and deserves the title of "the king of beers". he makes a kickass hoppy pale ale. i'll see if i can bribe him into brewing something, should i land a job and be able to afford a flight.

/amber bursts into song ..

On the road again
Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is climbin' rocks with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again
On the road again
Goin' places that I've never been
Seein' things that I may never see again,
And I can't wait to get on the road again.

On the road again
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
We're the best of friends
Insisting that the world be turnin' our way

I won't be able to make it this year. I'll be in the Grand Canyon.

I'm sure you'll all have fun. BTW, There has got to be a place to camp that is "remote" yet still close to the south of Flag climbing. I've seen lots of potential camp and 'woodsie' sites in the past. (South of town, north of Priests Draw).

And Erica! Thanks for the compliment.

Oh, man! I'm sorry to hear you won't be able to make it Brent :( Grand Canyon should be fun though.

If you get a chance, could you please PM me with any directions you might have for these spots? Looks like the Forks are an option, but it's mighty far from Flag and all of the other climbing areas, as I recall. It'd be nice to find something closer that we wouldn't have to reserve or watch our backs for yocals.

And Andrew, I'm sure there will be plenty of people to pick you up. I've designated wage22 as the official "go-to girl" for transportation. As in "if you're flying in from out of town, go-to her and she'll hook you up".
