I speak Spanish, but I do not have time to moderate a forum. I can help with some translation issues though. About technical climbing jargon in Spanish I would need some research in Spanish web sites. Anyway, I know that some people that don't speak English can benefit from forums in other languages, but at the same time you will be limiting the exchange of information for the ones that can manage in English. And why not German, French, Italian or other languages?

This is a very cool idea. Yo me gusta mucho... HA ha, anyways, I won't really be able to contribute because my spanish is broken at best, but I will definitely stop by every once in a while and give it a shot. I think this new forum will open up a ton of new information from people who haven't been able to contribute before. aW

hola igcuesta, this is for those who can't speak ( nor understand ) english that well. its like erasing the dichotomy that exists ( if there is such a thing)and bringing climbers together.

Hi camhead! On Christmas time most of Spain is too cold for rock climbing (you'd better take your ice axes), but some places at Levante and Andalucia are really nice, and temperatures are rather warm. If you like bolted routes, your choice might be Sella, near Alicante, or El Chorro near Malaga. These two crags have more than 500 routes each (enough for a few days visit). The kind of rock is limestone and you'll find all grades, from 5.7 up to 5.14d (maybe you're some kind of mutant, in such a case, near El Chorro, you'll find Archidona with a 5.15 propposal). If you preffer self-protection routes, or even aid climbing the best options are El Ponoig or El Peñon de Ifach (Calpe) both of them in Alicante. There you'll find routes up to 900m long and grades from 5.7 to 5.13 (free) and A4 (aid), on limestone too. There are some very good topos for these places (even in english). I don't remember the title, but they were edited by Cicerone (England?). Maybe you can find them by your place. If not, try to search at www.desnivel.com.

Ok Kilewa, I proppose the following: as my english is not so good as I would like, there are lots of english jargon I don't understand, but maybe you may choose a word and then explain its meaning to me (using as much plain words as possible), so I can tell you the corresponding spanish word. For instance, I don't know if there is some special word in english for climbing shoes. In Spain we call them "gatos" or "pies de gato" (that is "cats" or "cat feet"). Saludos a Honduras.

Hey everyone! I'm from Ecuador but now I live in the US. I think i speak it fairly well ( both English and Spanish) I do not know, however, if i'd be of any help being only 17 and having very limited knowledge about programming and stuff like that. If you need translations or anything, i'd be more than glad to help my fellow climbers all over the world Saludos a todos mis amigos escaladores de habla hispana

You don't need to speak Spanish to moderate this forum, you just need to use the force...err...the babelfish: http://babelfish.altavista.com/ ¡No es perfecto, sino que hace el trabajo! Just follow every post with a disclaimer that you didn't mean to offend anyone's lineage... Mike...
