How many feet or how many wraps would you use?

Take your waist size multiply by three, convert to feet, and add four feet. That should get you close. Aside from just a tied swami belt you might try a full on hand tied harness, which will incorporate leg loops. There are a couple different ways to do it, some better than others. Pm me if you want me to talk you through it.

Pm me if you want me to talk you through it. A simple waist-loop swami, e.g. 3 wraps of 2" webbing, had a few advantages over fancy store-bought (or home-tied) harnesses. Boulder's Umph Slot comes to mind. Although I'm nostalgic for those days, that's not how I tie in anymore. I did use a bowline on a coil a few years back, out of necessity when there was no harness or swami in sight. Sometimes ancient skills come in handy.
