Ive aided part of about every hard alpine climb Ive ever done, whether its french free or using aiders, more often I just have used some slings. Its about the same except it seems like your always looking at a ledge fall if you blow your piece but thats probably just cause its short steps of aid on things i have been on. sometimes bergshrunds need a little aid on pickets which can be strenuous. about the same differences in general as the differences between cragging and alpine i suppose.
