For the last couple of days, when I've clicked on a user's name in a posting to see their profile, I just got a blank page. It would say "(username) Profile" but the page below that is absolutely blank. Any ideas? Thanks.

Fitz, i've been having the same problem off and on. Usually the personal profile stuff doesn't show up but the routes climbed does show up. Very strange. I'm on a Mac, don't know if that has anything to do with it.

It is weird. I went to a random thread (http://www.rockclimbing.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=67462&forum=16) and clicked on the profile of anyone who had posted. Turns out I can see some, but not all. The ones I couldn't see in that thread include atanarjuan, brundige, dalguard, frogman and briank (that's where I stopped). Could they have "turned off" their profile. If you have the time, go to that thread and see if the profiles of the people I've just mentioned show up for you. Like I said, when I click on the username, the words "(username) Profile" appear at the top of the page, but there's a big blank square beneath that. As far as connection, I'm on a T1 at work (shhhhh!) and yes, I'm on a Mac.

I was about to post a similar complaint. I am also on a Mac, and it seems that sometimes I can see a profile, but most of the time what comes up is a list of routes added/climbed by user in question.

I got a new iBook about 2 months ago. Wonder if it could be System 10? It seems to give me minor problems in some other areas. I had no problem with my old "Toilet Seat" iBook, which ran System 9.

I have my hands typing at the "toilet seat" style iBook (kneeling at the toilet bowl), and I'm running OS9.2... still no profiles. Must be something else?

I am also on a Mac and am unable to see the profiles of anyone who has posted to this thread. Or any threads for that matter.

Mods and admins can't do anything about it. I'm going to have to spend a little time on my Mac and figure out WTF is going on here. There are a couple other new bugs that appear to have sprung up, so I guess today will involve a bug hunt. Oh well, I wasn't going to get any work done anyways, I have a doctor's appointment mid-day which pretty much tanked my productivity at my paying job.

PS. Those of you who are paying attention should feel free to file a bug with Apple. I mean, it renders in IE and Mozilla -- what's a couple hundred validation errors between friends? :-? validation for a profile Ugh.

In reply to: PS. Those of you who are paying attention should feel free to file a bug with Apple. Certainly...how does one do that?

It's greek to me, that's why i use a Mac, so that i don't have to know how to fix a computer. Thanks for your efforts on behalf of less than five percent of computer users. forbin

OK, I'll test it with Mac IE5. I have that around too. Maybe a validation filter will do the trick. I'll give it a shot... if it works, I'll try it on the rest of the site so I don't have to fix all the broken HTML ;-)

What browser are you using? What version of Mac OS? I verified that, on a Panther box running Safari 1.0, the profiles came up. They're ugly, but they came up. I need to know what you're running or it will not be fixed (short of filtering everything through Tidy, which I intend to do, but which may break large chunks of the site and thus will need to be gradually rolled out). tim, i'm running OS X it's been working fine for over a year.......this just started happening.

I just clicked on a few, and the ones I can see look different than they used to. I used to be able to see the personal profile, and now I just see posters' climbing record, gear reviews, etc. No "I've been climbing since I was born and I love animals and trees..." You know, the good stuff.

In reply to: Tim, I'm running Explorer 5.2 for the mac on OS X 10.3.5 and I have the same problem. Pat I have that same set-up, but if I log onto RC.com with Safari rather than Explorer, I can see all the profiles just fine. Try that. Curt
