I'm going to be in Maine for about 10 days and I was thinking of doing some top-roping at the otter cliffs in Acadia nat. park. Any advice on sea-cliff climbing, esp. with regards to gear? should I rinse off all my hardware after I'm done climbing to get the salt off? is there any usual protocol?
I'm a somewhat experienced moderate leader, but have no experience climbing near saltwater. Any tips would be appreciated.

Your probably OK not washing your gear. There are many routes right above the water where I am from, and I havn't noticed any oxidation on my gear. Bolts are a different story. If you dont place a high grade stainless bolt it will be a rusty wreck very quickly. I would however wash my rope if it was dropped into the sea, it tends to get stiff.

Just got back from the cliffs near Land's End. If you're not carefull the climate there will chew up your cams. No sand but occasional wet rock (around ground belays) and spray. But it is a very exciting environment.
