In reply to: Hey Gang. I have a few days off this next week. I'm off Thursday afternoon/Friday/Monday and Tuesday. If you would like to get out and play around on the rock - let me know. I'm also open for a day hike if you want to go. I'm open for just about anything(except Golden Cliffs) - leading/cleaning/top rope - sport/trad/plastic - matters not. I wouldn't mind going with a rope gun to Clear Creek or to Hawk Ridge to push my ratings. :) I can belay with the best of them. I had a great time out last weekend. I am really enjoying my Mythos! You'd be proud of me ZoZo - I gave up the juggy stuff for the past three climbs! :) These routes weren't dead vertical but they were thin. (Nexascent can verify) Anywhoo - I'm game if anyone wants to couCLIMBgh, CouCLIMBgh. Sick? I'll write your boss a note....LOL Gotta bail - have fun! JD I PM'd you about getting out next Monday or Tuesday if you are interested.

BEER, BOOZE and BBQ in BROOMFIELD Seein' as the summer is windin' down, the wife and I figured it was about time to instigate some off rock recreation. So we're having ourselves a party. You all are welcome to come if your promise not to boulder up any of our neighbors houses and RSVP (a PM will work) so we can git enough dead animal for the grill. Here's the deal: Who: A Mix of folks from the greater front range area What: Beer-Bee-Q When: Sunday, September 5 starting around 6 pm Why: Labor Day/House Warming/Kyle's 30 (damn I'm old...) Party Where: I'll send you that part when you PM me, not worried about you folks, its them crazys out there stealin' identities you gotta watch out fer. To give you a hint we're 'bout 8 miles from Boulder Canyon, and prolly 10 from Eldo. So get some routes in and come on by, ain't gonna be one of them fancy pants parties, mostly chillin on the back patio with somtin cold to drink. What you gotta bring: A six pack of your favorite suds, a bottle of a tasty grapes or some sippin spirits to share. Kim and I will spring for the grub. See you them, hopefully we're un-packed... damn moving. Kyle

I may be headed to The Spot on Sat evening. Sunday I'm hoping to be on Inwood Arete on Quandary. I really hope the weather holds but I have a feeling I'm S.O.L. :-( Oh well, hiking in the rain up something large may be fun for Sunday.

Gotta hit something cuz I'm heading to Dallas on Monday. Hey James...Phoenix??? Dayum! And yes, I'll attest to your amazing faith in thee ole spidey shoes! Zozo...he didn't even complain about "no jugs". Tracey...where the hell are you????? lol And all of you that are moving...good luck and if you need extra hands, pet sitter or some goofy stuff that comes up, just pm me...I'd be happy to help!

Hey Gang I banged the shizzit out of one of my toes today. It's lovely shade of purple....to bad it isn't the same purple from my Mythos. I'll have to see how it feels to determine whether I can climb this week or for that matter - next. Have a great one...I'm "on call" sitting at the airport tomorrow. Yes - 10 lovely hours of "Waiting" for something to happen. Mon/Tues still are "Off" right now. However - with a flip of a switch they could work me. I'll let you guys now. Elcap - Killclimbz - I'll be in touch. JD

Hey, I just moved to Boulder, CO 2 weeks ago, and I need somebody or bodies to climb with on a regular basis. I'm looking to climb 2-3 times a week, indoor or outdoor, sport or bouldering. I'd also love to learn to climb trad. I've got no car, but I have sport gear, and I climb about 5.11+ on a good day. I'm a 22 year old just starting Physics grad school, I'm going to need to climb to help keep me sane-ish.

Cool modig, So what's your name anyway? It's kind of weird calling people by their usernames, although that seems to be the norm for some. Look back a few pages for the bar-b-que get together notice at Kyle's new place. It's the first Saturday in September. Accidentally went to Eagle Rock today instead of Cobb Rock since I didn't zero my odometer at the first bridge like it says in Rossiter's guidebook. So we figured that out and did the Great Diehedral. Man, kinda poop smeared is the word. Not a great climb, but worth doing once. The gear isn't great, either. Bring all of your wide gear. But there's a 10.d sport route lower called Eagle Snacks that is sweet. Very nice route. You can toprope the 12a next to it. Try the finger crux. Jesus. I tried to jam it once and then retreated to the right and bypassed the bulge. I also managed to poke my right eye with a stick today. Got a piece of wood lodged in the white all day and it got really red and irritated. Ugly! The creek swelled up quite a bit during our day, no doubt due to rains way up the drainage. It was blue skies all day down at Eagle Rock, however. -Tim

So Galen, You being a student means you are carless then, yes? Sure, we can pick you up on the way to the crag. What's your schedule like during the week?

M-F I have class or TA stuff in the morning until about 3:00. Pretty much everything else (homework) I can do when I feel like it, so it only messes with scheduling if I have too much to put off. On Thursdays I'm free between 9:00 and 4:00.

How about Tuesday for Clear Creek everyone? Highlander crag for those who can get off a little earlier than 4pm or Wall of the 90s. I can pick you up in Boulder, Galen. I'll PM you my phone number. Say, does anyone know how Mike's hand is doing? I heard from Jeremy that he injured it recently. And how was everyone else's weekend?

The Great Dihedral - I wanted to climb that last weekend and then read some more beta that said it was a sandbagged route - not a 5.5 at all but closer to a 7. Would you agree? I'm kind of happy we couldn't find a way across the creek now. :) How did you cross Tim? Where was it - couldn't find it. After reading your review I don't think I'll even play on this one but it would be nice to have the beta in case I make an attempt later. Hope you're well. JD

We hit the West Ridge in Eldo Sat with the intent of bagging a couple of short 9's. We ended up doing Long John Tower and The Unsaid. Both were fun routes but I kind of got off route on The Unsaid, but TR'ed it a much better way right after. BTW from the top of Long John you get a REALLY sweet view of The Yellow Spur! I am taking it easy and climbing trad after work this week to ready for a run at Castleton Tower this weekend. Hopefully we will be back in time for Kyle's shindig. Hey to the new guys and I hope to climb with you soon. J

The route is more towards the 5.6 -5.7 range since you are compelled to climb away from the dihedral. There are a lot of long runouts as well. Animals are really crapping up the first traverse. It's pretty disgusting. The rock is also wet in places near the dihedral, as it is a major drainage for the face. I really wouldn't say this is all that nice a route due to the scatalogical nature of it. The creek flow was pretty low in the morning, so I rock hopped across. In the afternoon the flow increased by maybe 50%, so I took off my boots and waded in knee deep water. Easy. No tyrolean required.
