I can only climb this Saturday, the 4th, but I would like to find someplace less crowded with three day weekend groupies. I may be out of luck, but any ideas? I thought about early morning climbing at JTree or bouldering up above the palm springs tramway or some of the more obscure rocks in the San Bernardinos(although I don't have the 4WD I prefer for some of those forest roads). Taqhuitz is an option, but my partners have not done multi-pitch or trad and are not real comfortable with that idea..... So, any ideas? miker

If it's more than a 30-60 minute hike in J-tree, you're likely to find some solitude. Try the outback areas and don't let the "no starred" routes fool you. Some of the best climbs I've done out there have been out of the way routes without stars in the guidebook. Go...explore

JT is just so freaking hot right now. I thought about driving out friday night and hiking out boy scout trail a bit and buvying, but friday night traffic will be hellish and then we only have a few hours in the morning for climbing before I melt...;) But it is an option I agree, the best climbing at JT is in the Wonderland of Rocks and is rarely climbed. Just an idea, anybody interested in doing Figures on a Landscape on Saturday? Maybe I can ditch my other friends and just go do that..... Would have to start early, but it is in the shade so should stay "relatively" cool.

Doooood you're just climbing at the wrong time! it's all about night climbing this time of year...Walk on the Wild Side is radical at night...SW Corner...Overhang Bypass...Illusion Dweller...No Calc's Allowed...all fun night routes lol Good times, man, I miss that place

I heard a rumor there were still available campsites in the vicinity of Baffin Island.

Woodson was beautiful today, and it's supposed to be all weekend...crowds never a problem cause there are so many places off the beaten path to get lost. Perfect...
