Gear stolen at Lumpy Ridge

A good friend of mine had his entire rack(including all his aid gear) stolen at lumpy ridge a couple of days ago.

It was all in a big green and black North face pack, that was stashed up near twin owls. It was apparently well hidden up on a ledge where only climbers might have found it.
He stashed it at 7PM on Aug. 31st then returned at 3PM Sept. 1st(the next day) and it was gone.

The gear would include full aid stuff(aiders daisy's etc.) Full rack(cams nut's etc), a rope, climbing shoes, a harness, and lots of other goodies.
All gear was marked with blue and brown tape. The hooks and beaks where spray painted brown. If somebody turns up with a bunch of "new" used gear looking like this please do the right thing!!

Anyone with any info please contact me!

Sheesh. That's a drag. Hope he finds his gear. Post up some gear descriptions, marking colors, etc.

That's pretty fecked up! What kind of self respecting climber would steal a whole pack? Booty is one thing, but damn!

People sometimes retrieve packs and rationalize this saying, "They must have forgotten it." They then post a note on their local gym bulletin board and wait a week. After that, the gears makes its way into their pack. It's the theif in denial.

Yeah, that is complete BS if some climbers actually stole it. I would check climbinboulder.com. See if you can get a posting on the front page about it. It seems that one of their primary functions has been a lost and found board. Hopefully this was just a mistake.

It's not my stuff, but it does belong to a very good friend so I take it personal.
He is very well known in the Estes area and has the word out. He's also active on CB.com so I'm guessing he's got that covered as well.

He asked me to put the word out down here(denver) and that's what I'm trying to do....
If you see someone with gear matching the description(especially the painted hooks/beaks) please let me know.

My buddy isn't able to replace this stuff, and climbing well you know...

Rocky Mountian National Park has experienced quite a few incidents like this one during the summer. I wouldn't leave my stuff anywhere: Longs, Lumpy, Petit.

Well, if you're going to litter, you have to anticipate that someone might clean up after you.

Dude lost a lot maybe we should all chip in some money and buy him some gear. I will donate. This is of course if his gear is not found.

Has he filed a report with the rangers?

I had a friend go through a similiar experience a few years ago.

Haulbag on broadway in winter. Three gumbies took it, one of them died shortly later, the other two eventually returned most of the gear from out of state no less.(they talked about what they did, so word got out)

The ranger helped a lot.

Hope it turns out well.

BUMP!!!!

Ok I got more info on this ...my buddy was actually going to try a new route on twin owls.

His pack was 20ft of the ground on a ledge, in an obsecure part of the crag.
It was also anchored to 3 cams in a crack!!! The pack was there less than 24 hours!!

If anybody knows ANYTHING...please help....

Also alot of his friends in Estes are donating gear(used new whatever) To help him get his rack back together(it's a surprise- ALOT of people really love this guy). If anybody wants to help out that'd be swell!!

Yep, I've seen notes at Lumpy and a message was posted on the front page of CB.com. Unfortunately, that's about all I know.

That truly sucks. I had all of my gear stole a few years ago and it's taken me a long time to replace it. That is the lamest shit ever.
