In reply to: Nice werk Tim. hehe hehe.. .get it?? I like the first pitch or Werks up. I haven't lead it yet and probably won't this year. Holy crap tho, that 2d pitch freaks me out. And the Buldge. . .well, I'd rather lead that than second it anyday. I've seen some nice whippers taken by followers on that one. Scott (crankenstein) climbed it with a friend back in the 80s on a road trip. His partner lost his composure while leading the third pitch and took about a 60 footer that slammed him on the hip. He didn't break anything, fortunately.

In reply to: He's looking for someone to do Naked Edge with. Most people who are up to it have done it already. Flamer, you should hook up with Erik, too. He's off early from school during the week. I was hoping to do the Edge before I leave for Yose. in a couple of weeks. Who is this guy? josh

I ran into Eric last year at Red Rocks. We climbed some sport on a down day. I ran into him a couple of months ago in CCC. He's going to CU now. He also went with me and a few friends to the Tetons last month. He's solid and just loves to get out and climb. Oh, and he climbs pretty hard. J

Anybody care to head to Rifle tomorrow evening or Sat. morning? I'll be your belay slave/rope gun, whichever you please. I'm trying to avoid having to ride my motorcycle out there by myself, I'd rather carpool with someone. PM me if you're interested.

Heading to R n J North tonight. Will be there around 545-600p. If anyone wants to join us - give me a call. I'll be on the cell. It is possible but highly unlikely I'll be called in. I am still on-call. I am climbing with two friends - more the merrier - hope to see you there. JD Call if you are coming.

Sure thing Dave. I'll be glad to answer anything I can. Have a great day. I start a two-day trip today. Return around noon on Saturday. I'll have the laptop with me. Off to the very scenic and much coveted Kansas City, MO overnight. ;) OH YEAH! Nothing but great BBQ beef/chicken on the menu - can't wait! JD Anyone who knows I'm a veggie knows the sarcasm that was put into the above statement. ;)

Thanks Lisa for popping into RnJ North last night. It was great seeing you. I think that was the most fun I've ever had climbing indoors. For the record Mr. ZoZo! I climbed two 8's, two 9's, a 5 and 2/3rds of a ten but didn't get off route. There was a nice supper juggy 4 to the left which I refrained from doing the Durden variation. ;) Climbed with friends of mine, Ostara and hopefully a new member soon - Van Gogh. There is a story there...when he joins, I'll fill you all in. See ya! JD

Hi front range climbers, I just moved to the Denver/Boulder area and I'm looking for climbing partners. Right now I'm just trying to get into better shape and trying to gain confidence in leading easy (& hopefully some moderate) sport routes. I would especially like to find other women to climb with, but I'd be happy to climb with men too. I'm planning on going to a gym in Denver or Boulder on either Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday of next week. If anyone would like to meet at the gym so we can give each other a catch, just pm me. Hope to see you soon!

In reply to: is anyone sticking around boulder to climb this weekend? you can't :? all be going to shelf. anyone? Hey, I'll be around. I return to Denver around noon. Planning on a hike but it may cancel. If it cancels today - I'm up for just about anything - trad? Sport? Eldo/CCC (NO GOLDEN) I'm on call tomorrow so it would have to be a gym - but we can get you up something either a wall or if after 5P tomorrow - we could bag something quickly. James 720-635-2825

I'm not sure how many people know so I figured I just throw it out there in case anyone doesn't but even though there is a road closure sign Cactus Cliff is still open. The closure sign is for further down the road.

3-week closure on U.S. 6 scheduled to start Monday 9/8/2004 10:04 PM MDT JEFFERSON COUNTY - A three-week closure on U.S. 6 west of Golden will mean detours for anyone headed through Clear Creek Canyon. The construction work starts early Monday morning. The Colorado Department of Transportation says the closure is necessary to replace the decks on three bridges that were built in 1950. The concrete is now crumbling and some of the bridge decks have holes in them. The closure will stretch from Highway 58/93 in Golden to Highway 119, which leads up to Black Hawk and Central City. It will stay closed until Sunday, Oct. 3. During the closure, westbound traffic will detour via I-70 exit 244 and then east about three miles to Highway 119. Eastbound traffic will go west on U.S. 6 about 2 and a half miles to U.S. 40, east on U.S. 40 over Floyd Hill and then access I-70 at the Beaver Brook interchange. The contractor was given 20 days to complete the project. CDOT is offering a cash incentive to get it done in 16 days. The Casino Association of Black Hawk and Central City offered another $100,000 if the job is finished in 12 days.

Shelf was pretty hot in the sun on Cactus Wall. The Dark Side was nice and shady across the drainage. We couldn't stay for the night, so we took off in the early evening Saturday. The drive down Shelf Road itself is pretty scarey. We took it all the way to the washed out bridge. It's a single lane dirt track with no guard rail and several spots with 150ft.+ dropoffs. We were lucky to run into Jeremy and Kim. They showed us some good lines.

So whats the deal with the Highway 6 closure in clear creek? Can we drive up the canyon at all to reach any of the crags? If not, where are folks climbing now? I am free for climbing any day this week after 4pm. ~Sung

Hi everyone, I'm back...in case you didn't know. :D I broke the schaphoid bone in my left wrist Nov. 2003 and put off the much needed doctor visit until May of this year. After two months of x-rays and CT scans the Doc. decided that I needed a bone graft and screw to hold it all together, so on Jul. 26 I had the surgery. I've only had the cast on for six weeks and the following visit with the Doc. this past Wed. showed a great x-ray with no visible graft lines. It looks like a solid bone again(no wise cracks) except for the screw down the middle of it. The wrist was very stiff at first, but after a few days of physical therapy with one of those grip balls the strength and mobility are coming back. :D I'm looking forward to climbing and meeting more of you very soon. Vince

Tim--It was nice catching up with you again and finally getting to meet your wife. Wish you could have stuck around for the evening festivities and the climbing on Sunday. After much planning and scouting to find routes in the shade, the crew ended up climbing in the sun again today. 8^) Limestone was a good bit harder the second day around on the tenderized fingertips. To all who were at the Shelf gathering this weekend, it was great finally getting to match some faces to names, and meeting new folks. Thanks for the great time and all the encouragement on the climbs. *wimper* I'll be spending the rest of the evening nursing a margarita with my fingers on ice packs. --Kim
