Yeah, i know...don't say it....I'm too lazy to do a search.

Whats a good one? I had to scrap my old one because it was becoming freyed.

The Yates Shield, which some people like, seems a little to big bulky and complex for my tates.

gracias

Shield too bulky? No way, dude. Try one on first. You'll see in my gear reviews that I've owned a lot of harnesses trying to find trhe right one for grade V & VI stuff, and without a doubt the Shield is the best overall for me. The Misty Titan was a good harness, too, but I spent three consecutive days in it a couple of years ago -- and that's when I started buying Yates harnesses. Now if I could only build up the sack to use it for the grade V & VI stuff...

I have owned the fat Yates-style harness, the old Yates 5.14 (what a joke of a name for a harness that ways that much!).

I live out of a backpack, so I need one harness that can do everything well. I switched to the Misty Mountain Cadillac as well. It ain't as cozy as the Yates for long belays, but I can still crag with it reasonably.

For me a MAJOR consideration is the turned up gear loops!

This makes about three inches difference in where the swami racked gear hangs. Three inches lower and longer draws are hitting me in the knee-cap. The old Yates 5.14 had the gear loops turned up, but the current Shield does not.

By the way, does anyone remember the old "PANIC TABS"???

They were velcro gear loops that you could hang a piece from and then tear the peice from your harness when you were sketching at the crux... CLASSIC.

In summary, my vote is for the Cadillac as well.

Cheers,

john

cool, Cadillac it is. Didn't they change the materials a few years back when they went from the soft fleecy padding to the molded foam?

No shops around my area have one, so I need to buy it online...

psmyche, too bad Wild Things doesn't make that one anymore...I love WT stuff...have an Andinista and Ice Sac, and multiple warm layers.
