Soooooo... it's been a while since I've been here, but things still seem to be kickin...... I shot this at a new spot. Pretty happy with how all the shots came out that day. This cave shot a lot better then I expected. You can see the rest here: http://www.merrickales.com/...s091104/galleryb.php and onto the image...... http://www.merrickales.com/...s091104/DSC_0820.jpg What do you guys think I could have done for improvment? I try not to crop unless necessary, and I really hate cropping that changes the format, but I do believe that it might help the image.... Comments, Concerns, Critiques??????

I've looked at several pics of this area, and to me, they all seem too orange and colorless. The shape of the cave and the way it's all roof are kinda cool though, and the moves that are required because of that. I like the one that's looking head on as someone reaches toward the camera for a hold a lot better than the others.

this is a great image. a bit yellow, but what can you do. the ground looks overexposed/too bright some places, if you decide to crop some, crop from there to make it less distracting. I would like to see how he gets back his feet on the rock, or how he lost it. btw, where is this place?

Something that is really annoying me about these pics (by the way they are awesome pics) is that it appears that someone has gotten a mini excavator in there and dug the ground away in places. This to me is akin to chipping a route. It appears that the ground level was altered to improve the climb so that feet would not scrape when your legs cut away. As I said in brackets awesome pics.

no way.... this place is new.... two established lines here. one of them is an FA on the day that we were here...... this is not a climbing destination by any means. There is barely a trail, and its a hike down some really steep stuff. Put your mind at ease, I can assure there has been no excavation of any kind. The holes in the ground were most likely caused by water as there is a runoff area right behind the cave and we have had a lot of rainfall in the previous months........

Ahhh, I stand corrected and apologise for implying that the ground had been disturbed by climbers. Awesome pics, did I mention that. Outrageous climbing area mate.

Ooh, I like the campusing one best. I like the golden tones; the "yellow" doesn't bother me. Cropping isn't necessary, IMO. The white hot spots are harsh in places, so if anything needs to be addressed, it's that. But the overall composition and pose are pretty rad.

Nice photo, nothing seems to happening though, he seems almost too in control, i agree with coldclimb, cropping a little off the bottom might help with distraction.
