What do you think, How can it be improved? I tried getting in some of the background - but It was etremely sunny and they looked washed out.

i think it needs more contrast. it look too much middle valued everywhere. some black blacks would do it. is the background ps dof or real dof? if it is real, nice work. I would unsharp mask a bit, to bring out the details of the rock.
I would not place him in dead center too, it makes the image a bit too static.
I kind of liked the sepia tone, but i think it would look stronger in pure bw.

a quick play with contrast, conversion to bw, unsharp mask and darken the background and the very foreground a bit

definitley better, but you lose the climber in the image completely.....
