Hey all! I'm looking to head to the Gunks over the weekend of Nov 11-14th. Any beta on what the weather has been like lately climbing there, and what I should expect as typical for early November in the Gunks? Appreciate it!

I'm curious as well, as I'm considering heading there nov 6-7.

Went up over columbus day -- it was cold in the morning, but a beautiful day.

Expect it to be fairly cold, but as long as there's been no snow or ice, you should be ok.

hopefully a local or a regular will chime in momentarily.

The average high-low temperatures in mid-November are low fifties to low thirties. We've seen as warm as 70's (Indian Summer!) and as cold as 15 (at night).

The Trapps and Near Trapps get sun from early morning to about 2 in the afternoon. If the sun is out, the period from 9 - 2 is going to be pleasant on the rock no matter how cold the air temps.

I was in the gunks this past weekend. Weather was on the chilly side (45-50 F) - the rock feels like ice however. My body warmed up no problem on tough climbs, but my hands were feeling a bit numb - hard to trust a hold when you can't feel it...My friend had one of those shake-up heat packs - works really well in the chalk bag. No need for chalk because your hands won't get that sweaty, but I was dipping my hands in the chalk bag more often than normal for some heat to the fingertips. Not sure about November weather, but i would assume it would around the same maybe a bit colder. Wear a wool or fleece hat and carry gloves up on multi-pitch routes and you will be fine.

If it is sunny and 50's you should be fine. Overcast is starts to get downright chilly.

I was out there yesterday and it was a gorgeous day. Got a little nippy when the wind blew, but it was sunny. Although, I'm expecting that this good weather is coming to an end. Hope it holds out for you though.
