It's just a bunch of dull rock. What could make it much better is if the climbers weren't dead center, and there was something to look at. Maybe cool rock features, more detail or interest in the climbers, or such. I'm sure you've seen Petzl's poster of the weird cave house thingies that catch your eye for a while before you ever see the climber out in the corner. That's what I mean. ;)

Very flat. We get little sense of the true color or exposure of the Black Canyon (this is the Black?). This is a very difficult shot to execute. I think it needs better light, and must be very, very sharp to work. UB

looking back at this, do you think the picture would be better if it was centered furthered left, more towards the pegmatite band? it seems to me that would get the climbers off center as coldclimb mentioned, and it would get rid of the wierd depth perception that the buttress on the right seems to create. thanks guys.

How 'bout a vertical framing with the white stripe diagonal across the frame?

i cannot tell, but is the right hand side feature closer to the photog? See, there is not much depth perception here. If the feature is closer, than less dof would help you here. also i would boost the saturation and increase the contrast. it is too flat as it is right now.

There's also the usual "wear bright colours" comment. Bright colours (additionally you could use a polarizer to give them a bump) woudl help us see your hidden subject. The right side has defiate issues.
