I'm looking for a good pair of shoes for edging. I have a wide foot and appreciate any shoe gurus recommending a good model. Thanks!

double psst! "Advice" I'm not a spelling nazi but bad spelling in a thread title will not typically result in a high signal to noise ratio among responses. As your first two responses clearly point out. Sorry man. No advice on stiff edging shoes, other than any old school board lasted shoe, Boreal Golds are one. There, a signal amongst my noise DMT

I grew up in Hawaii not wearing shoes and as a result have a fairly wide foot. I really like La Sportivas' Katana. Katanas are a great edging shoe in my opinion. Go to a climbing store and try on a buch of different shoes until you find one that fits well.

I just got a pair of Scarpa Marathon shoes. If your feet are wide they will probably fit you fairly well. And, they are indeed stuff, so they edge well. Haha. Curt

I like the Anasazi Mesa. The build quality is somewhat sub par but nothing that could not be repaired with some Krazy Glue so far (about 3 months of use).

Fine, fine, give me a break on grammar today. It's Monday, snowing outside, and I'm stuck in here sick!

Mesas are great, but are a discontinued model and are hard to find now. So, quick, buy your street shoe size from Sierra Trading Post. And be prepared to resole them. The stiff midsole seems to shorten the lifespan of the sole.

I have wide feet and narrow heels. The LaSportiva Mega fits me very well. It's board-lasted and stiff. The LaSportiva Cliff uses the same last but is slip-lasted, so if you like the fit order a Mega in the same size. That's what I did. http://www.sierratradingpost.com has them at a good price. George.

I just got the 5.10 Anasazis. Yesterday I was out at the Gunks and I was suprised at how well they edged. So far I am very happy with them.

I have the Mesas, but I've heard many people complaining about the sole delaminating. Mine were demo shoes and already had a funky resole when I bought 'em, we'll see how well they last.

i've been using boreal aces for about 6 years....they are a fine all round shoe though i'm not sure if they make them anymore. The main thing they are good for is shoving into a crack and twisting sideways due to their board lasted construction....are you going to be doing this.....otherwise for just plain face climbing type edging i would probably go for a more high friction slip lasted shoe like one of the Anasazi's. BTW i can't believe you spelled "advice" as "advise" YOU CLOD! i was nearly not gonna reply!

My gf swears by the La Sportiva Miuras (sp?), I have worn Boreal Aces and found them a bit too stiff IMHO. I am waiting to find Miuras on sale for my edging machines! Not sure about the wide feet thing.
