I'm planning a bachelor party for a friend in January in Las Vegas, and am going to come out a day early to get in a day at Red Rocks. Can anyone recommend a cheap and comfortable place to stay that is convenient to Red Rocks before I debase myself in Sin City? Or, is there a convenient campgrounds -- depending on weather, I thought I might just bring my bag and camp out.

13 mile campground is located just east of the park entrance. It is a pay site.

Free camping can be found if you are industrious. Beware park rangers.

Weather is in the 40's at night, generally not too bad.

Vegastradguy, any chance you could "explain" (in a PM if you would rather keep it off the open forum :) ) the industrious camping to us out of towners? I am coming out for the Thanksgiving weekend, but am sure all "legal" campsites will be taken by the time I get there on Saturday morning. I will however have Sat, Sun, and Mon to climb. Thanks.

Any recommendations of hotels near RR, not on or near the strip?

Last week I paid 19.95 per night at the Palace Station (on Sahara...just off the strip). It is a 3 start hotel. large, clean rooms. I got the rate through Hotels.com.

Hotels close to Red Rocks that you might want to try are Suncoast and The Rampart. Both are within a 15 minute drive
