I'm going to be in Atlanta for the next week starting tommorrow and I'd like some suggestions on places to climb. I'm trying to take all my trad gear and I like bouldering. I'd really appreciate any advice. Thanks

for bouldering. Boat rock is really close. if you can drive 1.5-2 hrs check out rock town and LRC. if you can drive 4 hours horsepens. i've also heard rumors that chattanooga has some good trad.

Definately, agree with the last post. Vickery Creek is a great climb. There are about 6 routes ranging from rediculously easy to impossible. I spent many an afternoon there cursing a few of those routes. Worth your time if you get the chance. If you want some real climbing, however, ride up to Tallulah Gorge. They close it for a few weeks around this time so I would call before I went. Good luck.

Thanks for all the help on places to climb. Now if someone could just turn off the rain. I have no idea when I'll be back on this side of the country, so I wanted to climb and do as much cool stuff as I could, and of course it hasn't stopped raining since I got here. It's to wet to even set up my slackline. This sucks.

If you get the time to drive 2 to 2.5 hours, you can get to Chattanooga, TN, home to a number of solid sandstone crags. The T-wall, and sunset park ontop of Lookout mountain are highly reccomended (great trad). A bit closer is Pigeon Mountain, home to Rocktown (excellent bouldering) and Lost Wall (Mostly short, but good trad... try Guzzler 5.8, Black Pig 5.9, and prevailing winds 5.11c). Pigeon mountain is located outside of LaFayette GA, which is near Rome. It is about 2 hours from Atlanta. Boat rock, as mentioned above is a good closer alternative. Enjoy, BB
