I'm going to be in Puerto Escondido this June/July for some surfing and am wondering if anybody has information about climbing in the area. I read in a travel guidebook that Oaxaca has a "nascent climbing scene." Sounds perfect if I can get some information about transportation and climbing opportunities. Does anybody have anything on this?

Greetings -- it looked like you got no replies. Lo siento. We go to Puerto, I think, in January, and found the same sketchy reference to rock. If more info did come your way I would be very interested. Thanks, Happy T-day. Tetons

Wow that looks great....hey if you find out more info email me please. rubber_tires (at) hotmail.com. Theres not "at" symbol on this comp. Im currently living in the Yucatan, its pretty far...and my host parents and Rotary club probably wouldnt let me go so far out of state to meet a random stranger and go climbing, but please tell me how it is and let me know of ANY info you get. Atleast thats within my district.

Hi -- well, I don't know much more than before, but we're pretty certain to go and I think I'll throw in slippers and a rope, maybe some slings. From photos the rock does not look too big so maybe I can figure out a toprope scene, or simply boulder. We will be there for much of January, primarily studying Spanish but gotta get out and move through space (or water), or both. Hasta --- Tetons
