Are you looking for health insurance or insurance if your gear gets ripped off? If you want to insure your gear, homeowners should if you own a home. If you rent, you can get renter's insurance (my renter's insurance covers my climbing gear anywhere in the world). If you are a dirtbag, homeless, bum, uummm, ask somebody else....

I think the American Alpine Club offers some sort of insurance. Though I was looking over my insurer Kaiser Permanente's contract or whatever that thick paper is they give you and it said they do not cover roped climbing accidents, so I guess bouldering and soloing is covered..... not free or sport though, which seem even more safe to me if youre doing them right.

The American Alpine Club insurance is for rescues related to climbing. Just by joining the AAC, you get automatic coverage up to $5,000 per incident. Generally, it's most beneficial for climbers traveling to other countries. In the U.S., climbers are rarely charged for rescues.

In reply to: Any body know of any travel insurance I can buy that covers climbing? I used Travel Insured International, Inc. They were underwritten by TIG Insurance Co Included were a Comprehensive Plan and a Optional Flight Plan. Cost was $45 for the duration of the trip. I also carry a life insuance plan that covers my climbing. The policy is through Eire Ins but was underwritten by Kemper.
