You know you've got it bad when you spend your financial aid check for college on climbing trips and gear.

You know you have it bad when you drive down country roads and find old farm houses with Stone or Rock barns and you ask the owner if he will let you climb it. Thank God for Good neighbors.

you know you've really got it bad when you quit your job that you had for six months because it is beginning to cut time out of your climbing. But it's o.k. because i got a new job working at a campground and if my memory serves me they have natural stone out houses. Training at work? I think so. Oh yes. AND you know you really have it bad when you and your climbing partner get in trouble on several occasions for bouldering to the roof of your school during your science class [ This Message was edited by: rockjunkie on 2002-04-21 22:44 ]

When you buy a $150 pair of climbing shoes rather than an $85 dollar pair of cool kickers that are on sale and think you are saving money. When you take tirps to across the country alone to sacred climbing destinations and use rockclimbing.com to tell other climbing fanatics you want to climb with them and they say AWESOME! It would be great to climb with you. When your rack costs more than your car. [ This Message was edited by: inflight on 2002-04-23 20:24 ]

(this from personal experience - sorry if it's already been said): .. when you tear a monster 1/2 sq inch flapper, and decide to tape it cuz there's 30 minutes left 'till the gym closes... - d, I knew that moment I _was_ hooked.

....you start to notice that almost all your household items have something to do with mountains somewhere on the label, beer with mountains on the label, "Alpine Fresh" window cleaner, or dish soap. "Glacier Berry" sports drinks. "Mountain Spring" deodorizing soap.....it's become a real illness.

YOu got it bad when you are instructing your ESL classes on belay techniques and you test your math classes with questions about falling weight. and you spent your month's food budget on a new cams et so you have to live off rice and kimchee. you know your wife has it bad when you've spent the month's food budget ona new cam set without asking her and, instead of complaining, she wants to go to the local bouldering spot and and practice placing them.

When you start to consider tendon replacements for your elbows instead of having to take time off to heal. You drive a $1200 van with $5000 worth of equipment in it and your friends see nothing wrong with it. You climb the portable wall at the mall to get the money for this weekend's road trip.

... you get written up at work for trying to demonstrate what a layback is, using the freshly painted (white) wall and a nearby beam. .. you get written up at work (again) for climbing the dihedral formed by your building and the one adjacent to it. (Hey, there were lots of missing bricks and chipped mortar .. ) ... you have a *very* serious "discussion" with your insurance provider and Operations Manager about the possible liability implications of getting hurt while traversing along the brick work in the break room at work (again, some missing bricks and mortar .. they shouldnt leave such temptations around the office) ... ugh, you get written up again for posting to RockClimbing.com instead of working on the high profile project that's been assigned to you.

...your moving and you only have enough room in the truck to take one thing and everything else has to go in the back. so instead of taking all your cloths and all your school stuff, pretty much everything you own, you take your gear.

...when your grounded for the weekend for being up so late reading this and posting ...when all of the kids at your school refer to you as "that climbing girl" ...when 1/2 of the teachers at your school have caught you trying to climb walls, railings, pillars and threaten to send you to the principal who will send you back to your old high school for "being a potential hazard to school property" ...when you've include a quote about climbing in every essay you write for school ...when you remember about a speech ten minutes before you have to give it, and were supposed to have a visual aid and dress up in a way that related to your topic, and you don't fail because in you have various climbing magazines(visuals), and your rock shoes, harness, chalkbag, and climbing clothes, and twist your speech to be about climbing, and tell your teacher to go easy on you because your onsighting this, and you pass [ This Message was edited by: amsam on 2002-04-25 21:57 ]
