I searched the forums "buy aliens" , "where to buy aliens" etc and didnt see anything. Maybe im missing the thread. Sorry. Anyway, , where have you people had good experiences online with buying aliens? I know gearexpress doesnt have them but it looks like Mgear.com does. Does it generally not matter where you buy them, it will still take along time to arrive? Thanks!

depends on whether CCH has managed to actually ship product this year. generally speaking, i've had good experiences with anyone that carries them, including mgear.com, backcountrygear.com, rei, etc. take your pick, if they have 'em in stock, buy 'em.

So who do you have to sell your soul to get your paws on offset aliens? Where can you pick those up? I never see them in catalogs. I asked at REI and they looked at me like a crazy bastard, and I've never seen a place carrying them. Do they normally carry them in the Yosemite Shop but they are gone due to CCH's troubles? Where else can you pick up these prime pieces of gear?

Where else can you pick up these prime pieces of gear? From my understanding - there are a few select shops across the country that get "dibs" on aliens and more importantly - offsets and the mythic black alien. Top of my head: Rock and Snow - Like everyone said - alien dealer to the world and once you climb there, you'll understand why - i want a second set now! Yosemite Mtn Shop - I don't buy my gear in the valley but they've got pretty much everything Climb On - Squamish - The guy that owns this place rocks - very nice if you take the time to chat him up - got my offsets there and will probably get more if he's got them this spring... Other stores that have always been a good source for the alien fix REI - They seem to always have a good supply (at least in Seattle) INCLUDING the black (no offsets though) so the PNW crowd should be covered. Shoreline - Got my gray alien from them. Mgear - Backordered for a while but I got my last offset from them

i've had nothing but wonderful experiences with mgear.com. i've also seen 'regular' aliens at various gear shops recently.

Another vote for REI, and I believe you can often save an additional 5% if you buy 5 or more cams.

I don't know how you're supposed to tell from the website, but I talked to a support person at mountaingear.com yesterday, and he said the Aliens were not in stock. My local shop wasn't able to get any in either, so there may be a problem at the supply end.

My local shop wasn't able to get any in either, so there may be a problem at the supply end. That tends to be an issue with Mountain Gear. There web/phone order gear is not drawn from the same source as the retail shop. Earlier this year, in one of may many trips through Spokane, I wanted to get a pair of shoes. They were out of my size at the retail location, but said they could get a pair by the end of the day from the wearhouse that ships all of the web/phone stuff. Every time I have been at Mountain Gear they have had walls and walls of gear. Personally, I doubt they are "out" of all Aliens. They are pretty well stocked. AS for the original thread, REI has em as well. The Missoula shop has doubles in every size. (no offsets)

I bought my set of 1/3 through 1 at www.shorelinemtn.com and got 10% off and no taxes. Most of the set came quickly, but the 1/3 took 8 weeks.

You guys might be right about Mountain Gear, but if I call a company and they say they're out of stock, then they either don't have them, or their supply chain is so screwed up that there's no way I'd want to order from them. Rock & Snow had the Red, Yellow, & Green that I was looking for, and I got to speak to someone who could physically see them, so they got my business. Thanks for the tips guys!

robert, stop by Nomad Ventures on your way into JTree. they have the reg aliens. call ahead to see exactly which ones and have them set the pieces aside for you. they also have the old camalots on discount, and the C4's if you want to splurge http://www.joshuatreevillage.com/515/nv.htm

Just to follow up. My delivery from Rock & Snow came in a very timely fashion, so if anyone is looking to buy Aliens, they are definitely a reliable source.

For what it’s worth, I ordered 5 Aliens from Mountain Gear in mid December. When I placed the order, I was told that all but one was backordered until the end of January. The package arrived and 4 of the 5 Aliens were there; the last one arrived before the end of December. Rock and Snow is a great resource, too, but Mountain gear was having a sale....
