I’m sure that Raddam had a good reason for getting rid of the route descriptions in question. I’m guessing that the info submitted was quoted word for word out of one of the area guide books. Therefore it’s plagiarised. If you’d bother to read the “submitting route/photo info” you’ll find that this is a big no-no. I’ll come to Raddams defence as I recognise him as one of RC.com longest, most prolific and active moderators. Keep up the good work Raddam and don’t lose heart because of a bunch of whinny babies think you’re a big bad man who stole their route descriptions and their ball. This isn’t the first time this has happened. PS. If you have a beef with one of RC.com moderators, (and in the past I have) you’ll find that you’ll get a better response if you PM them and keep it civilised. Instead of trying to trumpeting an RC.com lynch mob to oust one this sites most respected members.

You are a moron! Have you ever even seen an el cap guide book? I don't recall that info being plagerized! Reid's book doesn't even have descriptions and Supertopo is only F.A. history. You have no idea what the hell you are talking about! So shut the fucck up!

Those descriptions were NOT copied from a guidebook. They were written by Pete and other users. The only reason rrradam has for removing them after they have been there for YEARS is because Pete is bitch-slapping him (deserved or not) over on Supertopo. Get over it, rrradam, put the descriptions back, they are there for those of us who actually CLIMB (or want to climb) the routes! -Kate.

Because its one guy being a jerk and hurting those of use who use that database and climb those routes. And maybe we're all sick of suffering from the pissing match between him and Pete, both here and on Supertopo. Grrr. What would you think if he deleted the route descriptions in your local area and replaced them with vague drivel, and he hadn't even stood at the base of the routes and looked up, let alone climbed them? And bringmedeath: Change the title of this to "rrrAdam deleting route descriptions in Yosemite" and maybe the thread won't get deleted and maybe something will get done. -Kate.

Ah, I see this was an actual event, the whole route deleting thing. Pretty lame using this site to further one's personal vendettas. However, any loss to the route spraytabase...I mean database, is not a big concern as it is more or less useless for actually climbing something. Supertopo is the only depository for decent route descriptions I can even think of outside of books. That said, please continue...

If rrradam actually is doing this out of a personal vendetta, he sure seems to be doing it in a random way: Some of pete's descriptions for stuff I've read his TR's on (Shortest Straw, Eagle's Way) remain.. However, others (Jolly Roger) seem to have been wiped. Also several trade routes (Zodiac, Salathe) seem to have been wiped. I'd be curious to hear rrradam's explanation at least. ps - please change the thread title so the thread sticks around!

Hey Martha: I PMed you with a list of routes edited on the 19th, as well as what I belive to be the text of one of the descriptions prior to the 19th, which I copied into another document, but I can't be 100% on it... Check rrradams edits to the El Cap routes database. He deleted the descriptions for: Lost in America Zenyatta Mondatta Zodiac East Ledges Descent Reticent Wall Sea of Dreams Iron Hawk West Face Salathe Wall Jolly Roger ALL OF THIS WAS DONE ON DECEMBER 19th...quality route descriptions on many of these existed prior to December 19th. Lame. Unless it was an unintentional mistake or there was some GOOD reason. If there is a good reason, like it matches another book too closely, send me the old descriptions, I'll rewrite them, and post them. If it was a mistake, then its a weird one, lets get it fixed. Thanks for your help, mods and admins. -Kate.

are you saying that rrradam is being rrrandom? sorry, easy joke. if you were going to update the descriptions with better/more current information, that's one thing. deleting them something completely different. personal vendetta affecting professional judgment? coylec

why on earth does adam still have the ability to do anything like this anyway? i really like the guy in person, but he has proven over and over again that if there is any way he can misuse admin rights, he will.

rrrAdam is still the area manager for California, I think, but anyone can delete route descriptions or edit them if they like. Noting that some of Pete's descriptions are still up, I am all the more curious as to why rrrAdam would do this. My bets are: * He is planning on winter ascents and wants to keep the crowds down. * He is planning on winter ascents and wants to keep the crowds down. * He is planning on winter ascents and wants to keep the crowds down. Not sure which, but it must be one of the above... Hmmmm. -Kate.

If Adam had been banned instead of PtPP, drkodos, b_fost, and all the others, the site would be better. He is a bigger loser in the real world than he is here. Here's hoping coal in your stocking, adam
