Sitting here at Denver International waiting on my final flight home, my aching head finally subsiding.

It was great to hang with the crew from rc.com ... thanks for the drinks, the conversation and your genuine, valuable feedback about our gear and what we do.

See you next time around!

PS Irish Car Bombs ... whew.

wayyyy off topic here. and not at all meant to be a detriment to the poster above..

but have you all realized how rude it is to joke about bombings in ireland?

i was once a drinker of the aforementioned drinks... yes they are good... yes i still drink them... but at the request of my friend who's feelings i hurt when i was talking about the drink....

anyway.. sorry

Dude, whats the rambling?? Yes he is talking about the beverage and was not joking about any sort of incidents in Nothern Ireland
Way to f*ck up a good thread.

Lemme try to revive it.

Ouray 2005 was TONS of fun!! It was great to meet everyone from RC.com that was there and was able to climb with just about them all.
It was also to put a face(and personality) with a name.

I'm looking forward to more gatherings(this was my 1st) and especially looking forward to Ouray 06.
I'll post up soem pics once my camera decides to cooperate.

PS Irish Car Bombs ... whew.

HAHAH! Hi Lane! Irish Car Bombs!!! Who the heck was responsible for that anyway? Sharpie and I were hurting on Saturday.

Thanks to all my old friends and new friends who made it out. So much was accomplished this week (Aaron had his hardest lead, I had my hardest lead, Ron became the "mix master" and I believe had his hardest lead too, etc. . .). I'm wondering which photos will be made public out of this whole event. hehhhee

Thanks to The North Face for hooking us up with our jackets and MAJOR THANKS to Omega Pacific for finally making an AWESOME screw cheap! Did I just thank OP for an awesome cheap screw??? Thanks to my partners. . .Aaron, Ron and Jeff especially. Thanks to Aaron Eddy for everything you do to make the Park so fantastic. Thanks to Trango for making what I believe to be the most perfect ice tool (MANTIS). So many people to thank. So many memories to think about. So many aching muscles to heal. I've never enjoyed myself so much around so many people.

To my buds that are too far away and now back at home, I miss you already and I can't wait to climb more and more with you in the future. The people I stuck with the most on this trip (you all know who you are), they don't make better friends and partners than you guys. We need to work on making all those dreams we talked about coming true!!!

Some random memories of the weekend:

~ Seeing the photo of Ron and Sharpie and their helmets...
~ Orvis...
~ Leading ice for the first time...
~ Beer, beer, beer, and more beer...
~ Swag.... LOTS of swag...
~ Colts/Pats... again. Damn Colts. Zozo, I'll send you the $25 if you send me your address. No gloating, MickeyMac.
~ Jim Donnini, in drag, doing a lap dance to Erin Eddy.
~ The look on Malcom Daly's face when the aforementioned lap dance was in progress.
~ Friends, ice, laughs... good times all around.

Thanks again, y'all, for being the best pals. See you soon.

("Chief Paramedic, Ouray County EMS"... tempting, to be sure.)

way too much went on to even know where to begin….

their were ups and their were downs, but like most everything else, the good far outweighed the bad…

as previously posted, i lost my luggage (actually american & united lost my luggage), was outfitted by pheenixx & sharpie outdoor adventures, participated in a rescue (#1), and hurt my great friend. And that was just the first 36 hours….

i’ll hit on some things that may have been missed thus far…

+the ability to hang out with my friends (and my wife)…it doesn’t get any better than this…

+the amazing feeling of surprise when erin handed out our “thank you” schwag. and his (and gary’s) genuine appreciation for all the work we did.

+seeing this guy lose consciousness (after a small ground fall) and start sliding into the river (rescue #2 – with conrad anker)….

+embarrassing myself in the speed comp. sonnie trotter may not have been climbing ice for long, but he doesn’t seem to need much effort beating a hillbilly from Indiana. He was gracious while giving me my licks…

and last but not least….

+getting up early on monday morning to give tic tac (m7+) a go on lead. it was amazingly heady and it didn’t go clean, but I pushed myself and left on a great note. thanks to easton for the belay and timmo for the pics (and the mama and terry for cheering so loudly from across the gorge). check out the new profile pic (when it gets approved)....

http://www.rockclimbing.com/...n=Show&PhotoID=47112

thanks to pheenixx for the clothes and homemade breakfast (bring a carbon monoxide detector next year), mike for the lead catch, heather “just call me bubbles” 2004 for keeping the tub going, tim & terry for a wonderful finish to the festivities, jeff for the pendulous conversation, skibby for too much to recount (coffee, band-aids, normalcy...), flamer for not stealing my towel, jasona and kristen for spot in the crowded hot tub, and easton for believing in the madness…

steve, mike, dave, olin, timd, jody, and whomever I may have overlooked it was great meeting you and can’t wait till next year…

big thanks to my buddies, c.t. and sharpie, for giving me a chance to dream. if we want it bad enough….

more may follow….

regards

r.r.

p.s. since everyone knows I can’t travel without incident I left my two signed books on the plane in dallas. if you see some mixed climbing books on e-bay, they are probably mine…

sandbag and greenspace....next year, you will be there!!!

edited for link to picture...

Hey Ron,

Didnt we put some money on the Pats/ Colts? And didnt the colts get slapped around some? If we did you can do what I told Reno to to do and thats to hang on the cash and put it in the ZOZO Guiness fund. Im drinking for free next year!!!

I'll second that Ouray was tons of fun. It was great to get out of the comfort zone and try some mixed stuff, have a class from Rich Purnell.

I'm done with mexican food for at least a week. TNF jacket is sweet! The Boat Ramp was the funnest climb of the weeked even with all the people watching.

m_sheep hope your finger gets better.

See ya all next year for '06

no, we didn't bet...i said it was bad luck. i don't bet on teams i have an interest in...i take it too seriously as it is...you'll have to count on reno for the zozo fund. anyway, i don't know how i am going to dig out of the hole this year put me in...

I think Dave was in too much of a Post-Chili Cheese Fry Stupor to notice the cop as we were tearing away from A&W!

Ouray was a blast! Thanks to everyone who made the new guy feel welcome and offered to help me out. My first time ice climbing was great, thanks Ma Sheep for the pointers and the belay. Special thanks to Redpoint Ron for talking me into going in the first place, and to Reno and Skibbie for letting me have a spot to stay. Also to Mike for the lift to Telluride. I really appreciate it all.

I'm already looking forward to coming back out next year, and hopefully will be able to catch up with some of you to knock out a 14er or climb some trad.

Pictures of the infamous lap dance coming soon! Advice from the new guy: Check the ice over the creek before crossing, especially if the first guy across weighs less than you......a refreshing dip in an alpine creek may result if you don't.

Thanks all,
Sam "The OTHER guy from Indiana"
