Description

Content: Toe and Heel: 63% Merino Wool, 27% Alpaca, 10% Nylon Arch/Instep: 75% Wickspun Acrylic, 25% Stretch Nylon Leg: 90 % Wickspun, 10% Stretch Nylon Fiber Specific Details: Alpaca: This cashmere-like fiber is one of the most luxurious yarns available and comes from the Alpaca, a cousin to the Llama. Dahlgren uses only the finest grade, providing incredibly soft comfort, triple the durability of wool alone, superior moisture absorption, and the potential to be up to 10 times warmer than wool, yet the flexibility to adapt to a wide range of climates. Alpaca is also a fabulous friction reducer; effectively helping to prevent blisters. Merino Wool: The finest grade of wool; naturally soft, absorbent, and an ability to adapt comfortably to a wide range of climates. Wickspun Acrylic: Soft and durable, Wickspun Acrylic is Dahlgren Footwear's special blend, which efficiently transfers the moisture away from the natural zones, keeping feet drier and more comfortable.

Ok, so they are socks. Big deal. Well, after a cold wet climbing/camping trip I recently learned the value of never using cotton on the trail. My normal cotton socks were soaked from persperation even with dry boots and as the temp dropped it became a miserable trip. On a recommendation from that trip I tried the Dahlgren socks out for my next few hikes. I was very impressed at the versatility. Even with low volume, it has thicker padding on the bottom which is a blister saver and thinner top which breaths very well. Since then I've used them on cold and wet trips as well as very hot trails and they've kept me warm in the cold and cool in the heat. They also dry out very quickly and provide good padding without being bulky and shifting while walking.

Ok, thats my rant - now go buy them. (I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 simply because they are not cheap)
