Description

From gearexpress.com

All of these cams have surpassed the rigorous demands of The C.E. and U.I.A.A. safety standards in Germany. This set of 5 double-stem cams fit a size range from 20mm (.78") to 91mm (3.58") and now feature integral cam stops and new Spectra double length slings.

The Rock Empire Robot camming devices are composed of more than thirty pieces.

The individual cam segments are extruded from aluminum alloy into a profiled bar-stock. This is then further heat-treated and refined to gain the optimum balance between strength and hardness. The bar-stock is then cut into the required thickness’ for the cam size and then milled and drilled. Accuracy is extremely important during this process to achieve the correct geometry resulting in the faultless operation of the Flex and Robot. Grinding and polishing gives a smooth and glossy surface to the segments.

The shafts are turned from steel alloys. The most important process is a heat treatment in a computer-controlled furnace with gas atmosphere.

Machined axle-heads connect the mechanical and flexible parts of the cam. This part carries all the impact force when catching a fall and is produced with special care. It is ground and polished after it has been turned, milled and drilled. The axle-head is then calibrated again. Finally the axle-head is pressed to the cable loop under a pressure of 30 tons and all parts are assembled together.

Great value 4 out of 5 stars

I mostly use passive protection and have only 10 SLCD's total. I have 5 robots (1-5) and am very very happy with them. I have had minor walking problems but definetly worth it for the money you save. The smaller ones go well with aliens and the larger ones compliment BD camalots very well. All in all i would recomend this to anyone, whether short on cash or not.

I have a set of these cams. First of all, I want to praise the value. I got the whole set for about 219 bucks. Second of all, the quality is pretty good as well. I have had absolutely no problems placing these. I have been saved by them, too. I found mine to be strong as strong a heck and have experienced no walking whatsoever. I want to try the Pulsar cams next. They go great with my CCH Aliens. You can't beat the performance and price.

Purchased a cam set:

Pro: Great priced cam

Con: Spring tension is a little sloppy on larger cams. Larger cams tend to "walk" easiely.

I've had these for a few years now. There's no fiddling with these guys, just slam them in and they're solid. That's what I like about 'em.

I have Black Diamond, Wild Country and Robot cams. The robots are good value for money, the trigger is not as smooth as BD, but who cares about that as long as it can hold a fall. The construction is very simple, which I think is a good thing less chance of things going wrong and easier to inspect. They are also pretty light. Great as either a begiiner rack or filling the gaps in other racks.
