Grivel Air Tech Light New-Matic Crampon Spring 2009 The Air Tech Light Crampon by Grivel offers the same features as the Air Tech Crampon but it is built from light alloy materials that slash the weight by almost 50 a mere 468 g without the anti-bott. It is exceptionally light without having sacrificed technical performance within reason, of course. That said, one must not expect the same performance as that offered by ChroMoly steel. Air Tech Light is designed for ski mountaineering, adventure racing, general mountaineering where hard snow is more likely to be encountered than rocks or hard water ice. Two different types of bindings are available: the New-Classic, which will fit virtually any type of footwear, it is delivered with the Flex-Regulation center bar to accommodate the most supple soles e.g. sneakers or light trekking shoes. And the New-Matic, which is designed for general mountaineering boots and is delivered with the ChroMoly steel center bar which is why the New-Matic version weighs more. An XL center bar may be required to fit sizes larger than 11, depending on the type of footwear.
