first shoes 4 out of 5 stars

Review by: darkstar38, 2007-08-27

I loved these, but like others have noted the rubber isnt the best. i used the hell out of them in the gym, however once the season hit last year I notice that I would occasionally slip when I was trying to smear on something, I cant wait to get them resoled with some stickier rubber, the rest of the shoe is killer and fits my foot great!

I love these shoes, the heel design makes them really suck onto your feet. They grab well on overhanging stuff and still smear well. I wasn't a fan of the boreal rubber at first, but once you get used to it, and get better at using your feet I think it's as good as any other rubber. The shoes are nice and sensitive. I got them resoled with C4 rubber and they work great. The velcro closure is great too for the easy on/off

This is my first pair of climbing shoe, and I am really enjoying them. I purchased these after trying alot of different models. They have a great shape and structure, and I find them considerably comfortable. They were a little tight when I first purchased them, however the have relaxed slightly. I would not say they have gotten a whole size bigger. The tongue is padded and the velcro has held up remarkably well. I love being able to slip these on and off. I plan on keeping these for short bouldering, easy sport routes and gym training.

From what I understand these have been disconntinued which is unfortunate. The orignal rubber is quite nice, however is a bit stiff. When I resole them, I will be using the Stealth C4 rubber.

I gave them a 4 because there is no 4.5 They are comfortable, have good structure and edge nicely. They are a bit sketch for a really tough heel hook, and are not as senstitive as I would like. I use them mostly for casual stuff.

I was excited when I bought these, but was let down. The rubber would slip when I was standing on a 10 degree sloped rock. I'll never buy these again. Maybe I got a bad batch of rubber, but I won't be coming back.
