My Tora's Just Died! 4 out of 5 stars

Review by: doyleld23, 2007-02-25

I bought my Tora's back in June (8 months ago). I was a new climber so by today they had died. They are stretched out so much that I could wear them out on the town and not even have them hurt my feet. Also the velcro is shot to heck. I had to cut the straps because they were long enough to tie in a bow. So with all the negative out of the way, here's the good. They have held up well over 8 months and have brought me from climbing 5.7 to 5.10. They are GREAT starter shoes. Get them.

These were my first pair of shoes, and they served me well for what I was climbing. Worked great in the gym and well on the granite outside. I had to cut the velcro straps because they were to long, but thats no big deal. I went down a size when I bought them and they were fine with not much stretch, but my feet have grown and they have become rather painful to climb in. All Around, Good Beginner Shoe.

Good beginner shoe. I use them in the gym and outdoors. I don't have much to compare them to, because I am a new climber but I will say that the velcro straps have caused me problems. I have wide feet and still the straps would hang off the sides of the shoes, they were so long that they actually interfered with my climbing so I cut them. Also, I don't think I will be buying velcro shoes again, sometimes they loosen up during climbing and im always affraid that the rock is going to lift up one of my straps in the middle of the climb. Also, the heel cup doesn't grip very tight. Other than that they are comfortable and seem durable, sticky rubber. I should have gotten them tighter.

Great beginner's shoe. Really not much to say about them other than that. They're kind of soft, which will teach a beginner how to use toes. When they wore out I upgraded.

it's a great beginner shoe. it was my first and has lasted longer than most other i've worn, with consideration to the horrendous footwork a newbie has, that is a miracle. even though the gym owner made me buy them tight, they broke in nicely and smeared all over the place. edging is good. overall, very comfy. good buy.
