very good shoe, meant for edges and particularly standing on the toe. very comfortable and light weight, but i wasn't so impressed by the rubber. I wore through mine pretty quickly, but still a very good choice for the intermediate climber... and at a very nice price!

This is a great shoe for big guys (180# and over) with big feet, or lighter folks who want lots of edging support. It's stiff enough to edge forever on slabs, but bends enough to smear well. Red Chili uses Vibram rubber which is fairly hard: again, great for big guys. There's even a tiny bit of padding in the heel so walking isn't painful. They don't stretch: how they fit in the store is how they'll fit forever.

I would buy another pair, but that won't be necessary for quite a while, as they're very solidly made (amazing how a shoe can feel German).

My guess is they'd be too stiff for lighter climbers -- but for Clydes, they absolutely rule.

Solid sole. Nice for some longer routes. Edges like a dream. Rubber is hard, so smearing is a bit tough. Nice addition to a shoe line up, but wouldn't recommend it for the only pair of shoes you own.

Often sold as a beginners shoe due to its broad, relaxed fit and general sturdyness, Sausalitos are just as suited as an all day mountain rock shoe for experienced climbers. Whilst not my chosen bouldering shoe - to say the least - I have managed plenty of Norwegian granite multipitch 6s (5.10, E1 5b) in mine and I can't climb much harder than that in my Dominators. Great for crack climbing besides the very thinest cracks where they migth be a wee bit chunky. They won't smear as well as a softer boot but are by no means terrible on slabby moves - but it it edging and cracks where they come into their own. They last well, will take a resole well and due to being sold as a beginners shoe are very reasonably priced.
