size discrepancy 1 out of 5 stars

Review by: mottaaa, 2007-02-15

i bought these in a size 11. i am an 11 1/2-12. the shoes, though marked an 11, are more like a 9 1/2 or 10. they were shorter than a pair of 10 1/2 boreals that i have kicking around. they were 1 1/2 inches shoerter than my size 12 5.10s. my toes curled under in the mesas. i sent them back.
a word of warning. the custserv rep said they run small, but a size and a half?! make sure you check the size, if you can, before you buy.

These shoes are - as mentioned so many times before - great for edging, and the stiffness of the sole takes the calf-tiring nature of climbing out of the equation. But, the heel is oddly recessed so much that I have a huge amount of dead space that makes them completely useless for heel hooking. Then again, these shoes probably aren't going to be used in situations where you need to do heel hooks, but if you do, you should probably look elsewhere.

I bought a pair of these a size and a half too small. It hurt like hell. They can however edge on just about anything and distribute a very pinpointed force out over a large area of the shoe. I wore them down through the big toe. I have purchased them again at an appropiate size and prefer them when I am doing any climbs with tiny feet. I'll admit they are still not the most comfortable shoe, but If you can learn to trust the edge of your foot on a dime it can help you do some very solid climbing. I gave it a 4, not a 5 just because it isn't as cushy as a Five Ten Coyote. :)

Shoe doesn't fit me the best, heel is loose but it still digs into by achillies tendon....go figure. Nice and stiff for edging, but not sensitive at all (took a while until I believed I could smear at all in them).

If they fit, they're not a bad shoe. But for me they're nothing to write home about.

Good and bad. High performance edger with alot of comfort. Flashed my first 10d with 'em. However, after only three days of climbing they are showing signs of a blowout. The rubber over the plastic midsole, which provides its unique stiffness, is deteriorating quickly.
