Cowbells
Review by: probill, 2009-07-25
I had some long pitched at devils tower and the cowbells when set are bomber. BUT! they take two or three times longer to place than cams. Many a old timer has turned in hexes for cams.

I got these as a birthday present from a good friend/climbing partner several years ago. He had originally gotten them several years before, anyway, they are old and faithful. I can always find a place for them in most cracks. Bomber. Slung hexes are the way to go.

never tried any of the curved hex's but I find these indespensible. They just work in the limestonee around here. I only sling size 6 and up.

These are the original CAMs! I have the original Chouinard's designed by Tom Frost strung on Spetra cord. I carry a full set and use them all the time. The straight sides are more predictable than the modern curves and they don't get stuck as easily. They work for everything except flaring cracks.

I pick up one of the old unanodized hexes for really cheap, so I though I'd finish out the set. I just bought the new ones and hacked the wires off. I slung em' with cord and I like that way better. I didn't really think I would end up using them much, but I was wrong. They work great.
