Heavy, hard to operate
Review by: petsfed, 2006-12-02
I picked up one of these since they've discontinued them, so it was pretty cheap. The first thing I noticed about it was that it's very heavy, considering the size. I chalked that up to the spring loaded gate. The next thing that came to me (since I elected to put it on my daisy for quick connections to sport anchors) is that the gate is nigh on impossible to operate when you're pumped. The spring is surprisingly strong and keeping it unlocked long enough to open the gate is difficult when holding on is difficult.

This biner is great for belaying with an atc especially indoors. Lots of room for fat cords and the smooth twist to open action makes it easy to unclip (something you do alot of indoors).

A very good carabiner, with an excellent size to weight ratio. Definitely large enough for just about anything you could possibly want to put into it. The locking action is also very smooth and responsive. Only 2 drawbacks (one being quite significant). 1) the price, although average for a large locking biner, is somewhat steep compared to the Screwlock. 2) there is no way to "lock" the sleave to prevent accidental twisting (some others have extra notches or little balls). I see this as being a reason to maybe not use this carabiner with a Munter hitch.
