I have used these cams on 3 separate occasions for trad climbing. While the larger sizes seemed beefy and the cam stop design inspired much confidence, I was still a little hesitant to think about taking a fall on the smallest size. Since this smaller size Splitter cam is probably more useful for aid climbing, I'll just say my reluctance was based upon personal preference and noone should base their opinion of the smallest size Splitter on my experience. As far as ease of placement, I would compare these cams to Aliens because of their narrow profile.

I have all the Splitter Cams including the two cam units and the four cam units. I have used them out on the rock. I have found them quite funky to use and would not suggest them being used by anyone except the very experienced. I love them for very shallow cracks in aid climbing. I would not suggest them for trad climbing whatsoever. They are a very specialised piece of pro that you should only consider if you have a particular job to do. If you are going to buy this gear second hand then you should check the manufacturers recall notice. All new gear is fine though. These cams have a very limited range of movement and can be susceptible to walking and becoming stuck.
