Review 5 out of 5 stars

Review by: travis, 2003-07-18

I purchased a set of 1-3 Micro cams and 1-5 Robots and duplicate 1-3 robots. I've lead multipitch routes with them and so far have enjoyed them immensely. I haven't experienced any of the robots I placed walking. I wish they made larger sizes. The Robot #5 is very close to BD #3.5 so I ended up buying the larger BD's to fill my rack. I recommend the Robots as not only are they cheap, but they only require one finger to pull the trigger while placing them. I think Robots are a great cam regardless of price.

Great for the cost, very well made. They don't have the range of BD cams, but at less than half the cost, just buy doubles.

This would be a great starter rack for someone just getting into trad climbing. They are sold in the set of five Robots and/or a set of three Microbots, or the complete set of eight. They are well-built and economical for someone with a tight wallet looking for a whole set or just wanting fill out their existing rack. I've seen the whole set of 8 Robots/Microbots for as little as $200, and each individual cam goes for between $28-30. All cams have machined-in cam stops, and the action is smooth as silk. The coverage range isn't as good as other cams, and the larger sizes, specifically the #4 and #5, tend to walk a little. But beginners will love this set for the price, and they can fill them in with Camalots and TCU's later on down the road.

Bought them and used them at Red Rocks.... my first time doing trad and I really liked them. I'm very happy with them, mostly because they are very good and not very expensive!

Nice cams for a beginning tradster, not as hard on the wallet as most others but still strength rated. These are what I started out leading with.
